"Oregon, however, proved last year at Ohio State that its Nike-funded program can indeed prove all its quacked up to be"

Be honest Mike, how long have you been holding onto that one?

Ugh, cowbells. The American vuvuzela. Here's hoping we can silence them early, if only for the viewing experience.

Yes, I'd say you've probably got the rankings about right Mike. Other than Oregon, none of the teams in the SEC East, Auburn, or Mississippi State have recruited a Top 10 class for the last 2 years (2021, 2022 classes). In 2020, besides Georgia, only Florida and Auburn were in the Top 10 recruiting. The Dawgs are recruiting head and shoulders above every single SEC East team and many West teams out there and have been for years. Florida and Auburn's recruiting classes in 2022 are ranked #33 and #16 currently. KY is #11.

And Billy Napier or not, we ought to take care of Florida.

While everything you said is true,, I would argue that recruiting has now included NIL and Free Agency.. The edge is going to go to the teams that navigate those waters, best. With the UGA Alumni and Booster support, I see no reason the Dawgs can't dominate that arena, too.

Thibodeau as much as said Nike bought him before NIL was in place. These deals have been going on for a looonnng time.

On more thought on the subject, Montana. With companies like Nike (etal.) backing athletes to play at the schools of their choice, they could actually make scholarships for some kids obsolete.

The NFL has a salary cap to level the playing field...NCAA has scholarship limits (85) to do the same. A University can actually get around that if a kid agrees to play without scholarship and his sponsor pays the fees along with a paycheck (NIL). The tuition would be part of the compensation. This could more than make up for a couple of lousy recruiting years.

A true semi-pro league...an NFL feeder system, if you will. LOL

As far as I know, there are no rules preventing the NFL from getting in the NIL business along with EA Sports, Sony, Microsoft, etc.. They may have to modify the rule preventing the NFL from drafting a kid until after his Junior year.

It's a mess and the NCAA can't walk and chew gum. LOL
