As a "Poor man's" Roger Staubach, Stetson Bennett is no ones placeholder and he's absolutely a top 10 QB in CFB and SHOULD be in store for a HUGE season. I'll say over 14 or 15 games he'll throw for 3500 yards with 35 TDs 10 ints, a 67% completion pct. 350 rushing yards with 5 rushing TDs and will probably end his storybook career being regarded as ARGUABLY the best QB in program history.
Yep. Can't argue with that.
As long as the defense is good enough to allow us to play with a lead for most of the game, UGA has enough weapons on offense that a mediocre QB would do well as long as they limited mistakes and hit the easy throws. I don't feel confident that any of the QBs currently on the roster could sustain an offense in a shootout against another elite team.
I am completely confident that this offense will be able to score as many points as necessary to win. That SECCG was a fluke. Aside from that, Stet torched every team he played. And if there is a defensive letdown, that will only help Stet accumulate the gawdy stats needed to get national recognition. I seriously don't understand why anyone would have any concerns about Stet. Any.
Well it took awhile for Bennett to completely grow on me but no question the man is an outstanding QB and with a full off-season of #1 reps he'll be even better this year. He and Monken need to get in the lab and figure out how to improve his 3rd down passing efficiency numbers but I expect him to be 1 of the very best QBs in the country and he's a dual threat to boot which is why JT couldn't get his job back. Bennett is the REAL, REAL DEAL, so get used to it, and most importantly, ENJOY IT because this year's gonna be fun watching him run the show for a full season which could very well end in another National Championship.
CKS teams at UGA haven't typically won shootouts. Only one I can think of off the top of my head is against Miss State back in 2020 with JT when he had to throw for over 400 yards to win that game. Success has been linked to defensive dominance controlling the flow of the game which was the case last season. I just don't see any QB on the roster that can carry a team through a game where the defense isn't playing well
Oklahoma in Rose Bowl ?
Yeah that was such a weird game for a shootout. Defense played terribly in the first half then locked OU down in the second half for the most part with our running game doing most of the damage on offense. Fromm did have some clutch throws at the end of regulation though.
Not sure of the definition of shoot-out, but it does kind of means passing to me. With our running the ball so well, maybe it wasn't a shoot -out and we'd need a different term for it. Like mauling or road grading. But I do kind of get your drift there.
I have ZERO concerns with this offense and our QBs. We return more offensive production than any team in the nation. Scoring will not be a problem. My bet is we average about 40-45ppg.
Yeah if the defense and run game are going well, I can see high 30's low 40's.
I think the only thing that will slow down our offense will be multiple blowouts where we just kill the clock.
This Georgia team has a slightly higher upside overall than last years based on the assumption that Bennett and the Offense are gonna b a whole lot better in year 3 under Monken and anyone thinking Georgias Defense is gonna be anything other than elite are kidding themselves. I don't have any problem with 'Bama and Ohio State being ranked higher preseason because we all know that it's games 13, 14 and 15 that's gonna tell the tell between these 3 and I like Georgias chances against either one.
Yeah, we're just going to out-talent most teams into submission. Only worry I have would be going up against an elite passing team with our secondary.
We can call it a barn burner
