    Since you can't comment on JEff's artilcles, I"ll do it here....ABout Sayin, THis guy is the most graceful, instictual, fluid QB i've ever watched on HS film. And all of that with just one year as a starter is simply amazing. He senses the defenders around him, and makes the right moves to escape pressure, never seems panicked, all the while ever keeping his eyes open down field, and then find the right receiver and place it where only his guy can get it. WOW! Whatever you have to do Kirby, money wise or other.

    Safety remains the place where we're thinnest, IMO, especially early in the season. But if Tykee comes back strong and/or Starks is a quick study, we'll be in good shape (paired with C. Smith). Meanwhile, Dan Jackson is another one of those guy who's constantly underrated (much like a certain UGA walk-on QB). He's actually pretty fast and seems to hit very hard. I'm just not sure how strong he is in coverage. So it's concerning that we have so little experienced depth early in the season.

    It's true that we're thin a little thin at experienced CB, too. But I truly think that Lassiter and Nyland Green are great options across from Ringo; they should be ripe to become high-level starters. Plus, Everett looks to be ahead of schedule and Jaheim Singletary looks to me like a real phenom -- length and smarts to really mess with receivers.

    The scary thing is that we can't afford for Ringo or Smith to be injured especially early in the season.

    @CandlerPark

    Gonna keep asking this line of questions until someone answers it.

    1. How highly should a QB who throws for 200 yards a game be rated?
    2. Can you name any other passing (meaning not option/running) QB in the last 10 years who threw for 200 yards per game other than SB IV and Jake Fromm?
    3. In light of 1. and 2. as big numbers has been the way for QBs to get acclaim in this wide open era, do you want this exception to apply only to UGA QBs? Or should it apply generally? If it applies generally, then what should be the criteria? "Wins a lot of games?" Fine ... but winning a lot of games without big stats in this era requires things like, I don't know, two 1st round pick caliber RBs (Chubb and Michel for Fromm) or a historically dominant defense (SB IV).
    4. In light of 3., do you want all QBs who don't put up stats but benefit from historically dominant running games (Fromm) and defenses (SB IV) to be rated highly? Or just the ones who play for UGA? Because when they DON'T play for UGA, Georgia fans are the first to let everyone else know "your QB isn't all that ... he just had a great defense and running game." So ... why do you want everyone else to give UGA QBs "credit" that you don't give back? I don't recall UGA fans praising Auburn's Jason Campbell very much back in the day. They were QUICK to remind everyone that Carnell Williams, Ronnie Brown and Gene Chizik's #1 ranked defense was the real reason why Auburn went 13-0 that year. (And unlike SB IV, Campbell actually had NFL height and arm strength.) Chris Leak? More of the same. UGA fans give Percy Harvin and the credit for that 2006 title, not Chris Leak. Tim Tebow gets more credit than Leak does despite Tebow barely throwing the ball that year.

    Bottom line: don't expect anyone to rate UGA players any more highly than you would if those same guys played at any school other than UGA. If SB IV were toiling away at Arkansas, Texas A&M, Wisconsin, UNC or any other program in the country that didn't have 6 years of Kirby Smart talent surrounding him then you wouldn't be rating him either because there wouldn't be any reason for you to know who he is.

    SB will throw for as many yards as his coaches let him. He averaged more yards per attemp than Bryce Young did last season and he didn't have a 1st rounder and a 2nd rounder to throw to. If he throws 30 times per game he will average 300 yards per game as he did in the SECC game, and the 2 playoff games @ 287 .

    Against supposedly 2 of the better defenses in college football. THeres nothing wrong with having SB as your QB. He has nothing left to prove. If his coaches take the governor off of the offense this year. He will set passing records at UGA. That's the facts, JAck! OR they could shut him down in the 4th quarter as they did pretty much all season long. I vote for turningthe offense loose. WHen/if they do you will see a bunch of the best HS receivers sit up and take notice of UGA.

    Chris Leak and Jason Campbell got more official love than SBIV has gotten. Campbell was named SEC Offensive Player of the Year. Leak was All-SEC 2nd team QB for two straight years. Stetson Bennett? He gets bupkus!

    Neither Leak nor Campbell ever had as good a season as the one Bennett just had. Leak barely passed for more yards (in more attempts), and never matched SBIV in QBR, yards per attempt, TDs, interception or rushing. Campbell's championship-year was statistically a bit better -- but still not as good as SBIV's. Plus neither of those guys comes close to Bennett in mobility and rushing.

    And then there's the intangible of SBIV's teammate-acclaimed leadership. Plus there's that amazing up-from-walk-on-junior-college-oblivion story. I'm sorry. The guy has proven himself, he played exceptionally yell on the biggest stage, and he's only going to get better.

    It's true that there are a lot more really good SEC QBs nowadays (especially this year). But, c'mon, it's ridiculous that Bennett was left off of at least one pre-season top-25 QB lists after having a year that was better than either Leak or Campbell's best year.

    It wasn't SB's fault that he only attempted 20 throws per game on average. Like saying HErshel wasn't a good back if he was only toting it 15 times per game. BUt his average yards per carry was better than the Heisman trophy winner's.
