Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

I cringe just about every time I watch anything medical with Holywood. Although they have started getting a little better with it over time...
Sometimes ignorance is bliss.
😮
I think it'd be fair to call that compensation.
"Help wanted. Good pay. SPECTACULAR benefits."
Nobody gets rich in the military.
I think even General Officers don't make as much as a good consultant on the UGA staff.
I’ve seen the officer pay scale and housing stipend. It’s pretty good after a while
does **** for everyone else though
Yep, top pay for a 4-star General with 40 years of service is around $200K. Housing allowance at that level is around another $20K-ish. So, the top guys are getting about $220K. Chump change for someone in charge of so much.
and $250 a month for food
Officers don't get that.
Officers get BAS it’s just less than what enlisted get.
A typical 20-year officer career will see you retire as a LtCol. Final pay for a LtCol with 20 years is about $117K and around another $15K for housing. A 20-year enlisted career will usually see you retire as an E8 around $71K and 10K in housing.
It's an odd world. A consultant gets a ton of $ for watching some film, commenting upon it, and helps watching over a group of 18-21 yo kids (don't count Stetson here) while a 4-star officer may literally have thousands of servicemen/women under his care, often in life and death situations. Something seems out of whack there, but I guess that's where we are at.
I'd also like to say, as I'm already off topic, that I think mandatory retirement age for officers is far to young. I hate to think of all the experience and wisdom that gets wasted. Seems to me experience should be valued a lot more. Sorry for the sermon.
Yes and no. It's an "up-or-out" organization. You are either working your way up through promotions or you are forced out. You can't just remain a Corporal for 20 years. It's a highly competitive occupation, and you have to keep improving yourself through mandatory professional schooling and jobs of increasing responsibility. Sometimes very good people are forced out, but then there is always a group of junior people just waiting to take over.
The military is limited by Congress on the number of personnel allowed. If you had a bunch of old guys at the top who stick around forever, then junior guys never get a chance to move up and the whole chain of command gets backlogged. The funny thing is, in the military if you are in your 40s you are "old". I retired at 42 and was one of the oldest guys in the command. When I got my first "real" job as a civilian, I had 21 direct reports and most of them were in their 40s and 50s.
thanks. Never thought of that up or out thing.
Median Salary for all football staff at UGA is $88,000 and there are ten support staff that make over $100,000. UGA football staff are also some of the highest paid in the country
