ATHENS — Georgia football stock is soaring once more after the Bulldogs saw to it the Oregon Ducks left Atlanta tarred and feathered.

It just goes to show how important it is for a quarterback to work with first team receivers all camp. The most complete game I can ever remember seeing them play against a ranked opponent maybe ever . Were we under ranked and Oregon over ranked time will tell . They have worked hard and they are well disciplined and coached and it showed Saturday . We saw how most teams this weekend weren’t prepared for that first game and that’s understandable . Not Georgia .
That blocking on Ladd's end run was awesome to watch! Relentless. AD and Brock, wow! Both blocked their men completely off the field!!!! Watch it. Total domination! I know Kirby is pointing that out when they watch the film. That's how you do it!
The WRs in general didn't do much. Most of the passing went to RBs and TEs. McIntosh had almost twice as many receptions and almost 50 more yards than the leading WR. Hopefully that was a first game anomaly that will shake itself out during the rest of the season. It will actually kind of have to as every team in the SEC now knows that UGA isn't going to run a traditional offense if they can get away with it. In fact, why Oregon didn't make a second half adjustment to the fact that UGA had no intention of running the ball - and didn't start even after going up 4 scores - or doing much in the intermediate/vertical game was bizarre. It was clear that his entire defensive gameplan was squaring off his future NFL starter tandem at ILB against UGA's new starters at OG, but after it became equally clear that Monken and Smart were not going to allow that advantage to dictate things, Lanning had the whole game to do something else but didn't even try.
The body slam personal foul was bunk! THe receiver was still resisting and squirming and Lassiter had to pick him up in order to put him down. He didnt drop him on his head or anything unnecessary. Was it hard? Yes! So do we say no more "hard" tackles? I hope not! Fans reaction said it all, I think it inspired the defense too! Cant turn football into touch or flag.
No, you weren't under-ranked. It is amazing how so many people believe that being #3 in the country is some trifle. Also, for the record Alabama won 55-0 against a very good group of 5 team (yes the MWC is stronger than the Sun Belt and Conference USA and most years is the equal of AAC teams like UCF and Houston) that went 11-3 and was ranked #24 last season. And #2 Ohio State won 21-10 against #5 Notre Dame in the most physical contest that didn't involve SEC teams that I have seen in awhile.
Is Oregon overrated? Not on paper. Much of that was indeed the product of a first year 36 year old head coach (and his 32 year old offensive coordinator) in their first game against a staff that was playing/coaching college football when they were in diapers. (Literally: Todd Monken was a graduate assistant when Dillingham was 1 year old.) The decision to not give backup QB Ty Thompson, the highest profile recruit in the history of Oregon football, some snaps after Nix made the absolutely bone-headed decision to throw a 50-50 deep ball to a 5'8" wide receiver when it was first down and you were a few yards away from field goal position against a very tough defense was absolutely unreal: a "rookie mistake" made by a 4 year starter. If I am Thompson, I am in the transfer portal on my way to Utah, Arkansas, Notre Dame, Ohio State or Florida by Tuesday. Especially since Nix actually has 2 years of eligibility left and Lanning has a 5 star QB in this recruiting class.
Also, we are still waiting on Lanning and Tosh Lopoi (who was "asked to leave" Alabama after their 2018 debacle against Clemson in the national title game) to adjust to the fact that Georgia chose throwing to McIntosh out of the backfield over trying to ram Milton against the future NFL players that Oregon has at DL and LB. Granted that is what an 80s SEC coach (or even a 90s one other than Spurrier) would have done, and is even what Tommy Tuberville and Les Miles would have done but Lanning should have been the first to know that Kirby is from the Nick Saban "do whatever wins" mindset.
Sorry, but with veterans instead of very inexperienced guys at HC and OC plus an actually good DC instead of a proven failure (Lopoi is actually one of the few guys who left Tuscaloosa for a worse job - position coach for the Cleveland Browns - instead of a better one or at least a lateral move) and the score is probably more like 31-17 instead of 49-3. Or at the very least Oregon is able to force Bennett to play into the 4th quarter.
Granted, Lanning can get better. Saban's first season at Michigan State was brutal, as was his first year at Alabama. So was Dabo's first year at Clemson. And yes, Kirby's first year at UGA included losses to Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt. But he is going to have to, and fast. His first order of business is making sure that his QB depth chart for 2023 has more than one player, which really could happen were Thompson to transfer and Bo Nix to decide that a high paying job at Nike beats chasing an increasingly unlikely NFL dream one last time.
Wow, what a weird interpretation on the game! Bama fan, Techie? For passing yardage, UGA currently has the number 4 team in CFB. Alabama is 44th. UGA played #11. Bama's opponent wasn't ranked. Georgia's top 3 WRs all gained more than Bama's top 3WRs, respectively. Keep trying to spin that negatively. UGA had 195 yards passing to the WRs. Multiply that by the full season, and throw more yardage against weaker teams, and UGA should have over 3000 WR reception yards. Kirby is tired of the negative recruiting. Gonna be a banner year for Dawg WRs.
Having to put in over time work to Find some thing wrong on this game Huh Troll ?? The Reason Coach Monken didn’t do Other things is he didn’t Need to. When something isn’t broken you leave it alone. You being the Great Guru of football that you try to portray yourself you should know that. And the HC for Oregon knows the Dawgs probably better than pretty much any other rival Coach. Yet he Couldn’t stop them even when he Knew what was coming. I also love your attempt ( this is the second post you’ve done this) where you try to insult Coach Monken in your “casual” way. Saying Defenses will adjust for the Dawgs O , just like Coach Monken Can’t make In Game Adjustments to defeat the rival defense. In your Other post you even Laughably Tried to say that recruits that were at the game or watching by TV won’t want to come to UGA because of the Way this game was played LOL !! While you were Trolling you must have been trying to keep up with another game at the same time !! Because in This One Stetson threw the ball to everybody but the towel boy and they probably thought about putting him in for a catch !! People seem to forget that Oregon went to the Horseshoe in the opening game last year and dug a grave for number two The Ohio State. All Michigan did was push the Bucknuts into it.
These same people now want to discredit the Dawg’s absolute domination by minimizing the quality of Oregon”s team only one year removed from taking down OSU. DISRESPECT! It was the same after every game last year all the way through the NCG. “Bama’s receivers were injured.” Even Saban saying after the fact, “Bama was rebuilding.”
College football had better take note! Kirby’s plan for Georgia is to get better from year to year, game to game, practice to practice, and play to play. And the thing that ought to scare the rest of college football absolutely ****less is that Kirby holds himself and his staff to the same standard!
After watching a god-awful amount of football this weekend, the Dawgs have proven on defense that they are the best talking team in the country and there’s not a close number two. “Generational” can no longer describe the D because the term cannot be used in successive years.
It is looking like this year’s offense will be “generational” and like last year’s defense, next year there will have to be some other way to categorize the offense. Kirby’s plan and implementation is a thing of beauty and it is working to perfection!

Exactly what I was thinking. Why stop throwing to a back when it works. They start covering it then you move to the WR's. He acts like every other team will key in on it but when they do I trust Monken to adjust. He seems to have a game plan for each team we play.
We still don't get the respect from most of the media. It went from UGA better watch out, Oregon's O-Line is the best and they have great players on defense to, Wow Oregon is a bad team when we won. On the other side UF barely beat Utah, who shot themselves in the foot, and they are back and Championship contenders.
