ATHENS — Georgia won’t dominate every team in the manner it did against Oregon. The game against Samford proved that much.

I could of saved you a lot of time writing this. Just say, this was absolute garbage. I don't care about friendship, mentorship, nothing. They paid them alot of money, they should of made them earn it.

Are you really trying to explain the garbage they showed? Well maybe Oregon was way overrated. Maybe the 118 ranked team? If this game was kirbys idea from the start, UGA shouldn't charge for tickets to this.

Pretty entertaining game as these type games go. We certainly left a lot of points out there. I guess we got some red zone to work on. Defense played well had there hands on a few balls they couldn’t quite reel in. Loads of people got playing time. Call it a 7.5 out of 10. Hopefully AD is ok.

Well said, couldn’t agree more. Rarely do these games carry the juice of a more equipped foe.

    Shortened the game????

Positives: Defense played well. I'll take a shutout any day. A lot of 2nd and 3rd stingers got some valuable playing time.

Negatives: Sluggish offense. Bennett threw a lot of high balls. Only scored 3 TD's. Red Zone issues for sure.

Kirby didn't seem very happy at the end of the game.

The team didn't look extra focused. Like they were just going through the motions.

Kirby's going to have to have to cope with a ton of Rat-Poison after the new rankings come out. Especially after the Dawg players get a look at the Bama - Texas almost - should have been - disaster.

I can't see Bama staying at No.1 after that showing. Dawgs on top, again!

Woe unto the offense come Monday. Kirby is going to make them take extra laps. UGA really did not look like a #2 team. Either did Bama look like #1..at all.

I had to look up the "Mercy Rule" as I wasn't aware it was an actual rule. According to Wikipedia:

[The most recent example of an NCAA football game shortened by invoking this rule occurred September 1, 2018 during a game Georgia played against Austin Peay in Athens Georgia. With the score 45–0 in the 3rd quarter and a high heat index, the Austin Peay Coach Will Healy suggested to Georgia head coach Kirby Smart that they play a 10-minute fourth quarter instead of the typical 15 minute fourth quarter. The coaches and referee agreed and the game was shortened.]

I guess I understand if the game is considered to have "dangerously high heat", but sorry, but no excuse for shortening a game today. Every minute of live games counts. I mean, Vandagriff barely got any play time. I'm sure he could've used more game time. Just put in the 3rd strings and let everybody play.

Anyway, yeah, even at halftime it was a "good" performance meaning that you'd be tied against a "good" team and down a couple TDs against an Elite team but then finishing with 3 points in the 2nd half? Yuck. Team Stats weren't awful: 479 yards vs 128 yards and only 4 penalties but you dig deeper and... yeah, ugh.

Bennett winds up with just a 66 QBR against a FCS team that could severely affect his Heisman odds. He showed what I feared from last week in that his long ball isn't up to where it needs to be. It even seemed like his shorter passes were "off". That 17 yard sack was really bad as his running around blew up in his face.

Arik made yet another **** penalty and Smart looked like he was very disappointed in him. He's not going to get playing time if he can't get it together. Beck did okay at 5/7 but had a fumble too. Blah. 5-13 on 3rd downs? We shouldn't have needed to kick FGs against a FCS team and I wish Smart would've just forced them to either make it or not by going for it on 4th down.

No excuse for not scoring touchdowns in the Red Zone against a team like Samford.

30-0 at the half and then a measly 3 points in the 2nd half?!?! 5 for 13 on 3rd downs! Yucko...

    Pitiful...

But great to see Williams, Bell, Meeks, Starks, Lassiter....all new or newer faces contributing

Watching Saturday game, Kirby need to readdress what the program standards are for the remainder of the season. Three points in the second half against a FCS school cannot be the standard when you have better players. It was sad and not fun to watch. If playing teams like Oregon and Clemson to start the season gets the team to execute to the standards, play those type of teams. Do not schedule cupcake teams if you are not willing to embarrass them on the score board. Saturday game was like giving everyone a participation award.
