Georgia football moves to No. 1 in AP Poll Top 25 rankings for Week 3
Saturday wasn’t Georgia’s best effort. It was still good enough to win, as the Bulldogs beat Samford 33-0. Yet the Bulldogs still did enough to vault to the top of the AP Poll for Week 3.

Weirdly enough, Florida is somehow ranked even higher here than in the coaches poll. That they're even ranked in either poll is baffling enough, but top 20?
But at least they got Georgia/Bama right. I think I'll always be conflicted about the importance of seeing the Dawgs get the respect they're due in the polls vs. the added motivation that can be drawn from a snub. For the time being at least, we get a little bit of both.
Hard to tell much of anything from the top teams based on the results against FCS and other smaller programs yesterday. Bama would be the exception. They've definitely got some things to work on, but I expect Saban will get it worked out pronto. Notre Dame in much worse shape than people thought, and Ohio State struggled to put them away last weekend. USC looked very good yesterday (a couple of their receivers are incredible), but their defense gave up too many points even in the win. Kentucky has problems. Will Levis and their offense is simply not good enough to take them to an SEC Championship. Florida came back down to earth as I figured they would. Texas A&M???....what can I say. Shocked. Jimbo may be on the hot seat if things don't get corrected NOW. Still thinking Tennessee is going to be our toughest opponent...at least the game is in Athens.
I figured this would be the case after Bama had such a close game to a weaker opponent. Had a conversation with a Bama fan they are in a state of denial that the team is rebuilding. Hope to see them in Atlanta! Go Dawgs run it back!
Since Notre Dame proved that they in no way deserved a top five ranking, The Ohio State moved up one spot to the #1 most overrated team in the nation. The Bucknuts are lucky they didn’t play Marshal in week one.
Our young Dawgs are going to have to grow up fast and take no opponent for granted. Number one means nothing in week three!
Not a chance...on the Jimbo "hotseat" talk. A&M went all-in on Jimbo Fisher last year. He's gonna be there at least 2 or 3 more. A&M would have to sell a few oil wells to buy him out and start over, anytime soon. LOL
What you saw Saturday, WAS Saban working things out. He's been working on their deficiencies since losing in January. That's why he brought in all that Transfer-talent. Not enough, though!! LOL
@BigDawg61...I get what you are saying but let's look at this latest loss from Jimbo a little closer...
First off, the game wasn't even close. App State dominated from the start. And this was at home for Texas A&M in College Station. The 12th man apparently took the day off! LOL. App State ran 80 plays to Texas A&M's 38 plays. The Aggies only had 186 TOTAL yards and 7 offensive points. At some point, Jimbo has got to do better than this. He can recruit all the stars he can get, and he beat Alabama last year, but there are so many inexplicable losses on his Texas A&M resume in his five years. This one sits at the top of that list.
247Sports Team rankings puts Texas A&M as the 4th best team - as far as talent goes - in the country. A&M has (10) 5-star recruits and (46) 4-star recruits. App State is 96th with (1) 4-star recruit on its roster. The Mountaineers absolutely deserved to win the game. They’re now 2-3 in their past five games against top-10 team...all the way back to that fateful day they beat Michigan.
Is Jimbo just a bad coach, a mediocre coach, or just unlucky?
And Bama...The Crimson Tide had 15 penalties for 100 yards. If not for a handful of Texas miscues — like a tipped 20-yard field goal attempt, a dropped touchdown, a safety-that-wasn’t and the missed sack on Alabama’s final drive — the Tide could’ve and maybe should’ve lost this one. And that’s not even mentioning the injury to stud QB Quinn Ewers, who was tearing up the Alabama defense before he left the game. Last year was supposed to be Bama's "rebuilding year" according to Saban...maybe he got the years mixed up.
Looks like the SEC East is stronger than the vaunted SEC West……..

Things are about to get very, very interesting in the SEC. By next year, Kirby will be wearing the crown and Coaches like Jimbo Fisher will be answering to the Demon that fed em. LOL

To who exactly? Kentucky is a strong program that Mark Stoops, in his 10th season there, has diligently built up the right way by focusing on defense, running game and both lines using underrated prospects while everyone else in the country is blowing their recruiting budget chasing wide receivers and QBs to try - and inevitably fail - at running the spread. I am a fan of Billy Napier - probably the only guy who has spent time on both Dabo Swinney and Nick Saban's staffs - but anyone who saw that game Saturday would have clearly seen why Dan Mullen is now working in the ABC studio.
Since Stoops has been in Lexington, Florida has gone through Will Muschamp (who has since been hired and fired by another SEC West school!), Jim McElwain and Dan Mullen. With that victory he is the winningest coach in the (modest) history of Kentucky football (though strangely influential: that place gave college football Bear Bryant as well as hired the Valdosta State staff - Mike Leach etc. - that took the spread big time). It is absolutely bizarre and very disappointing that Dawgnation took John Calipari's side in their dispute (which Calipari started by the way). UGA will still beat Kentucky this fall by 3 scores, granted, but maybe their ending the "2 years too soon" Florida hype (and that is the fastest possible that it will take for Naiper to fix the Mullen mess, as it will require their hitting on most of their recruits as well as getting big contributions from underclassmen) will cause them to re-evaluate and give Stoops the credit he merits.
