Brian Kelly took over a program that had a mess of a culture -- pretty big win over State, let's see what happens at Aub and vs. Tenn
Mike I like and agree with your point, however his body of work is too small a sample size for me.
I vote for the Pittboss. He’s quickly transformed the whole culture of Arkansas’ football program and he’s a great fit to stay there a long time. Not to take away from Stoops either, both great coaches. Stoops has just built slowly from the ground up. Only argument against him is that he’s never been able to seize the East when UGA/UT/UF had down years. Pittman obviously hasn’t won the west yet, but he’s turned them into an immediate contender. Plus I like some of his humorous comments.
“Think I’ll have a beer after the game. Not that I’m promoting it!”
Yesssirrr!
It's very hard to pick, but I agree with a lot of points already made.
I'm going with the Pitt Boss who turned chicken s___ into chicken salad. It was pretty much impossible according to everyone. Everyone except Coach Pittman and a slew of Georgia fans who hated to have him go to Arkansas.
Go, Dawgs!
You are correct. Leach will be looking for a new job within 2 years. He should have stayed at Wazzu where being quirky and winning 7 games is perfectly acceptable. That doesn't fly in the SEC.
Right now I'd say Stoops is doing the best job. Who would have ever thought KY would be a Top 10 football team? Not sure about Pittman just yet. Too early to make a call.
I recall when Coach Pittman was hired. It was Arkansas who hated to see him go. I think the entire OL room (or close to all of it) went to his house and begged him to stay. Players were in tears. I can see why. Nobody doesn't love the Pit Boss.
At this point, I might want to change my vote to Clark Lea. Truthfully, I think the credit also goes to a failure on the other coaches part. But, who here thought Vandy would have the chance to close their season with 3 consecutive SEC wins?
Brian Kelly can't be left out of the conversation. Gotten stuffed a couple times, but SEC west Champs, beating Bama, there's some pretty impressive accomplishments in his 1st season
I would like to add my two cents and say that Coach Beamer now has my vote!
His singular statement win against Tennerssee was one of the most satisfying games I have ever witnessed. I thought our beat down of Tennerssee was a most dominating performance until this past weekend!
To see UTjr’s defense give up on their coach, for whatever reason you want to insert, and, to allow a previously unremarkable USCe offense roll over them setting records along the way, made for a great weekend.
Coach Beamer’s masterfully schemed offensive and defensive plans steamrolled those Vols . And his joyous post game interview showed the love this man has for his players and they for him.
I think Coach Beamer’s star is on the rise and he will be a force in the SEC.
Beamer is just a likeable guy—and, obviously, a pretty good coach too. I wish him much success against every team in the SEC, except Georgia!
He has taken advantage of the weakest SECW division that I can ever remember. I'm not sold on Kelley just yet.
Amazing how different the answers are now vs Sept
Heupal (at least prior to losing to USC), Clark, or BK seem to be in the lead right now. Stoops and Pittman are no longer the front runners
If Vandy beats Tennessee, or LSU wins their next two, would solidify a winner imo. Some impressive coaching this season in the conference. And while Kirby might currently be the best coach, and this season potentially his best season, I don't think he wins it.
And don't forget that Coach Beamer beating Clempson would be fabulous....!!!!
Go Dawgs!
