It’s great to see him back, getting more playing time, and playing confident! Hopefully he continues to regain his confidence and get more reps. He was a very solid slot before his injuries. Great point Connor on A. Smith hopefully losening up the intermediate and possibly running game as well. Just need to hit him (or someone) deep a couple time to get that respect.
Good to see Dominick on the field he looks strong, determined and in good shape. We need him always had. Go Dawgz sic'em.😎
Yep, he’s a weapon and a difference maker. Go Dawgs!
Just get him the dang ball, please. Go Dawgs!
What got me most excited about this year was in the Oregon game. Stets was not only getting completions, he was putting the ball in the perfect location for his receivers to maximize the potential of their receptions with YAC.
That aspect of Stets’ ability has seemed to diminish with each game. There are many decent QBs that get the ball into their receivers hands on short and intermediate passes, but to be elite, and to make Monken’s offense work, the ball must be delivered to the spot where the receiver doesn’t have to needlessly alter his body position to make the catch and can continue upfield.
Well placed passes that result in catches and long runs result in TDs. Acrobatic catches for short gains lead to punts and field goals.
Nice catch Connor on how important Dom was Saturday night. As for “taking the top off” situation, the problem seems to be more Stet than the receivers. We’ve gotten a step on DB’s several times and Stet has simply missed the open receiver. A step is enough and should result in completions more often than not. Stet has simply failed to make the throws. Hopefully, he corrects that, because no one else will be given an opportunity to complete those over the top throws.
Here we go again.
I've always like Dom. He's a crafty route runner with good hands and he's surprisingly strong. I'd hoped he didn't lose anything from his multiple surgeries, and he sure looked good against MO.
If you look at the film on the two veterans, Jackson and Blaylock you will see they are good at creating separation on short to intermediate pass plays. Something the coaches show think about.
I join the chorus saying that Bennett's accuracy recently has been suspect. He used to never miss that little dump-off pass to the RB in the flat, but in the past two games he keeps throwing the ball over their heads. And on the moderately deep passes (15-25 yards), he's overthrowing wide open open guys. He doesn't even give them a chance to make the catch. I hope it's something temporary that can be fixed in practice because those are supposed to be the easy throws. Go Dawgs!
Monken needs to show Stet the Elle Duncan interview on the Paul finebaum show to rekindle the fire in him! He seems to play better when people doubt him!
