ATHENS — Georgia tight end Arik Gilbert is practicing with the Bulldogs this week, but he’s not expected to be heavily involved in the game plan.

Speaking of defenses crowding the receivers and the lack of speed on the outside with Mitchell and A Smith out.
Does it sound crazy to give Bowers a try on some outside deep passes? He sure has the speed, and it might loosen up these defenses some. I'm sure Monken and Kirby will have tried it in practice, if they thought it was a viable option.
You nailed it !! He does have the size and the speed. Bowers is a phenom athlete. People use the term “ generational” and I believe that’s exactly what Bowers is. I mean by all appearances the young man is no where reaching his ceiling at this point. When Defenses double cover him that just opens things up for others to blow things open !! We as Dawgs fans should be Very grateful he chose Georgia !! A note on Ladd McConkey. Some fans have been really upset with him for the recent drops he’s had. Not me. Nope. Because I Remember this young man was a QB in HS. And if memory serves he was tied with AD Mitchell behind Bowers as having the most receiving yards. AND he’s been playing injured. McConkey is human and just having a bad time like the rest of the Offense has had of late. I’m Believing that He and the rest of the Offense are about to snap out of it and Explode all over Auburn !! Yeah run Bowers deep outside put the ball on target and give him a shot !! He’ll fight for the ball in the air and Win !! Go Dawgs !!
I just cannot believe that we've seen all this team can do.
Until I see otherwise, I think they've been keeping the game plans conservative until the hardest part of the schedule, and to try to minimize the risk for injury.
Tell you another guy I’d love to see come on strong. That’s Oscar Delp !! In the limited times I’ve seen him, he seems very Bowers like !! At 6’5 he’s got the reach against defenders for jump balls. And I Do hope that Arik can get his life together and Enjoy the game of football, and Yes help our Dawgs in the process. I’m very glad and very grateful that Kirby hasn’t give up on him and cast him by the wayside. There was an article on here last week that clearly stated his teammates Like him and find him a pleasure to be around. I’m just quoting what I read right here on this site. So taking that as being the truth, he’s Not a distraction to the team or sure doesn’t seem to be. Kirby is doing what All Coaches should do in a society where many Dont and that is he’s displaying allot of compassion and patience with the young man. If Arik were to get things together and really light up the field on behalf of our Dawgs I wonder what those who want to can him would say then ?? Kirby doesn’t can guys for physical injuries and I’m glad, and I’m glad that he hasn’t canned Arik in this scenario which happens to be some sort of mental issue. Shows clearly the HC of the Georgia football program has a heart and allot of class !! Go Dawgs !!
Auburn will double up on Bowers forcing "others" as primary. receivers. Hopefully AD MItchell is there to answer the call. I think Auburn will give you short yardage throws...but will load up on deep defenders. This will allow some decent RB yardage....which I truly believe will be most valuable in this tilt. The running game worked on Missouri late in the game. Remember, Auburn is going over UGA vs Missouri game with a fine tooth comb....even Kent State. Harsin is prepped for this game ...UGA better be ready. Monken better have the right game plan. Auburn is NOT a cupcake. LSU barely beat them. You can run against Auburn. They will be vulnerable defending the air game. Bowers makes everyone nervous....he is very hard to bring down. Harsin wants this game badly! UGA has got to be hungrier.
If anyone was paying attention, UGA DID try to hit Bowers on a deep pass in the Missouri game. Bowers appeared to have a step or two on his defender, but Warren McClendon got beat badly by the DE who crashed into Bennett's arm just as he released the pass, causing it to fall woefully short of its target. So, they have the idea although I don't think Bowers is a long-term solution as our deep threat. Not if the other wide receivers don't come along to draw attention away from him. As for Oscar Delp, something tells me he's not as ready as we may have once thought. I could be wrong, but I don't think he played a single snap at Missouri, which was somewhat surprising. And quiet as it's been kept, it was Jackson Meeks -- NOT Ladd McConkey -- who was in the game at wide receiver during Georgia's last drive when it had to play keep away from Mizzou's offense. I took that as a sign that McConkey's foot really was bothering him (which I DO NOT BELIEVE for a minute is the reason he's been messing up lately) or that the coaches believe Meeks is a much better run blocker and may have more faith in him at the moment. Go Dawgs!
Amen !! Agree completely !! Our Dawgs need to be hungrier than they are !! And return to being the Hunters instead of the hunted !! I don’t know why but I had a bad feeling in my very ample gut about that Mizzou game !! And I assure you and my fellow Dawgs fans I’m not taking Auburn lightly. But and I can’t explain it at all, I’ve got a Good feeling in my ample gut about This game !! I think our Dawgs are gonna come in Angry and Anxious to prove themselves. STILL I think the early going will be rather nerve wracking for Dawgs fans as Auburn IS hungry and looking to upset our Dawgs. But I think that some where about mid 2nd Qtr. our Dawgs are gonna settle in and open a serious can of whip butt on Auburn !! We as Dawgs fans need to Thank the Auburn Center for running his mouth about demolishing our Defensive Front !! He gave them Big Bulletin Board material by making an open challenge and really insult like that !! Yes Carter is extremely important and him being out hurts, but our guys are gonna want to show that They can play to !! All the Auburn Center did was energize them with comments like that !! Go Dawgs !! Your right about them doubling Bowers, but he’ll manage to get loose a few times, and usually he makes teams pay when he does !!
Meeks IS a much better run blocker. He's 6'2" 205 to Ladd's 6' 185 (maybe). And if you are running out the clock running the ball do you want a marginally injured, smaller player even in there? No you want the completely healthy , better blocking, bigger player in there.
When was AD's ankle injury classified as a high ankle sprain?
I was an offensive guard and why did it take us till halftime to widen our gaps to open up the run lanes? Most of our top receivers are hurt or injured and the defense is extremely young, but gaining confidence. If Bennett struggles again Kirby should put in Beck to see what he can do in creating more plus 15 yard plays.
If Stetson isn't doing the job, take him out!!!
