It use to be that the Heisman went to the best player, which at this point in time is Stetson Bennett. Period. He's outplayed last year Heisman, crushed this year's favorite (Hooker), beat everyone else by comparison. He's even bigger and faster than last year's Heisman. But, that doesn't matter, only who espn likes the best.

Forget the Heisman Trophy. It's a totally subjective award anyway. Let's win National Championships; that will cement Stetson Bennett's legacy. As for Kentucky, this game scares me every year for the very reason that Kirby noted, the Wildcats' physicality. It's like we typically win the game, but lose 2-4 key players in the process for later in the season. I'm praying that won't be the case this year, that we will go into Lexington, win the game handily, and get out of there without any injuries. Thank goodness it's not a night game because strange things happen to us up there at night. Go Dawgs!

"To those who actually watch college football, Georgia may have the better quarterback in Stetson Bennett"

Connor Riley's best posted statement ever!!!

Point well taken. According to the Heisman website “the trophy is awarded annually to the most outstanding player in college football. Winners epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work.” What am I missing here when folks say Bennett isn’t deserving? Is the award only for the player with the best stats? Good grief 🙄

I could have sworn that Dwan Mathis replaced Bennett after his injury in the 2020 Florida game.

You are correct. Bennett had UGA ahead 14-0 on the Gators, but couldn’t perform well after the injury. They brought D’Wan in and the rest is history and Bennett gets credit for the loss. Ironically, Bennett bailed us out of a potential Arkansas loss when D’Wan had us down and the Mailman came in and led a comeback. So Mathis screwed-up both the games and Bennett got credit for a loss at Florida when he had us ahead and didn’t get credit when we were losing at Arkansas and he saved our butts. Sometimes life just isn’t fair 😉 Go Dawgs!!!

I caught that right away, too.

Also, 9 out of 13 is 69%. Bennett only threw it when we needed to.

For the majority of voters, the Heisman comes down to straight stats. Most individuals that vote are lazy and stats are easy to defend. Stats get airplay and print and voters get swept away by popular sentiment. However, for the voters who have played the game, from peewee to pro, they know there is one intangible no stat can enumerate. Stetson Bennett IV has it and he has exuded it since he walked on. Call it confidence, self belief, chops, expertise, know-how, proficiency, savvy, never give up, never quit, in Yiddish the word is "MOXIE".

SBIV has inspired the entire team with his gift. We have one of the most talented/skilled teams in college football but without motivation and inspiration we are just one of many talent filled teams.....especially in the SEC. He has won over the coaching staff and he has risen to the Georgia standard having endured struggle, failure, trial and triumph and has become the personification of a DGD.....He is our leader.

I defy anyone to put forth a candidate this year that could come close to the ONE characteristic SBIV processes, the one characteristic that makes SBIV the best college football player in 2022....MOXIE!
