Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Senior Bowl coaching staff addition may add ironic twist to Stetson Bennett’s storybook career
ATHENS — Stetson Bennett might soon be working his way back into headlines for football-related reasons.

OMG…here goes Mike again and his man crush on Justin Fields…just marry him already
BTW……D’Wan Mathis was credited with the win against Arkansas eventhough he had us in deep poop when Bennett came off the bench to save the day. Ironically, Bennett had UGA up by 14 points against Florida before injuring his shoulder. D’Wan came off the bench and was annihilated, but Bennett got credit for the loss. Sometimes life just isn’t fair. Go Dawgs!!!
I wish Justin Fields a long and successful career…..at whatever his major was in school. Leaving UGA for the school up north and then pulling the racist card for eligibility will forever be the most cowardly move in NCAA history.
What do you mean, "pulling the racist card"? What happened?
Apparently that was one of those "stories" that slipped past me...and the AJC. Dawg Nation has done a ton of stories on Fields...but never, one like that.
He had said someone on the baseball team had called him the “N” word, which was one of the reasons he left because he didn’t feel comfortable. You have to remember, DawgNation doesn’t do any real reporting, they just regurgitate what ESPN says once it comes out on their website. But here is the story:
https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/georgia-football/georgia-fan-shares-racist-comments-reportedly-made-by-uga-baseball-player-toward-justin-fields/amp/
I do not think that was ever confirmed, just reported and as we all know, anyone can report or say or make an accusation. But maybe it was and I missed it. Maybe it was a convenient "lie" to get the transfer and eligibility approved and he was advised to use it. Who knows, but I do know it was never a big thing and primarily a reported accusation that was not confirmed by Fields or anyone else. As far as I know.
Not being the brightest bulb in the box, Fields couldn't master the Monken scheme so he bailed and it all worked out for everyone.....All's well that ends well! KARMA.....Bennett backing up Fields in Shytown.....and leading them to a Super Bowl!
@My_Dawg_Ryan You may want to try Google lol .....
Thanks for the link. I had not heard that story. Must've been determined to be malarkey...unless there was a follow-up by Sanky that wasn't publicized.
Doesn't make a whole lot of sense, though. I have a hard time believing that Sasser would act the fool, like that.
And, I darned sure, have a hard time believing that anyone would've been screaming to have Fromm replaced by Fields. Everytime fields was put in a game, he looked like a deer in the headlights.
Even if Sasser said, what this "one person" said, he said...do you think Fields was under the delusion, that he could hide from offensive words...in Ohio, of all places? Lol...he's smarter than that. Or, at least, I thought he was.
That would be poetic. Lol
Actually, I'd like to see Atlanta get Bennett. He would be the perfect QB for Arthur Smith's system.
@MikeGriffith
Thanks for the stroll down memory lane. Lol.....I do remember reading those stories...now.
I read em again. Didn't see a tie-in between Sasser's disrespect and Fields leaving, though. Two, very unfortunate, but unrelated events that occurred serendipitously in UGA's timeliness.
Ironically, when OSU signed Fields, Ryan Day did what Kirby Smart wouldn't. He allowed what could've been OSU's savior...Burrows...to change his name to Burreauxs and lead a different team (LSU) to a Natty in 2019.
That could've been OSU in either 2019 or 2020, with Burrows at QB, instead of Fields. Throw in Williams transferring to BAMA and it appears Day pulled a much bigger snafu than Smart, assuming you think Smart did the wrong thing by not appeasing Fields more than he did.
In retrospect, Fields managed to derail UGA and OSU's NC prospects in both years....leaving College Football, without a ring. Funny how things shake out, when applying "hindsight", ain't it?
Most those stories were from an ESPN report more than likely…but never mentioned the real reason in yalls story…guess other sites hadn’t wrote about it yet 😂😂😂
