God bless and comfort the families (which we are all a part). They must have been great kids to hear all the testimonies praising them. Tough to lose them! Thank you also, Lord, for the survivors. I'm sure it's extra tough for them.

As I taught my children while they were growing up, nothing good happens after midnight.

That road is the most dangerous in Athens. With its uneven pavement and potholes not to mention power poles inches from the road it could happen during daylight hours and probably has more than people know. Late night and speeding only adds to the danger.

Every parent's worst nightmare. A tragedy all the way around and sadly, a life lesson to everyone. A teaching opportunity to the entire football program.

Not judging as I am lucky to be here today based on my own reckless behavior as a young person. Young people need culture, education and TIME to improve their decision making. Another example of why "the kids get it" was a misguided and uninformed comment by some k nuckle headed poster here on Dawgnation.

Based on the comment by Brooks, expect policy changes and clear guidelines regarding fraternization between staffers and athletes. You can bet what is expected will be spelled out very clearly in forthcoming policy changes.

Two questions that I have not seen answered regarding this tragic and sad incident is 1) do staffers typically shuttle players for team events and personal convenience? Were the staffers escorting players in that capacity that night? 2) was the vehicle, driven by the staffer. a personal or UGA registered vehicle?

It has already been reported that the SUV had been rented by the athletic department for staffers like Chandler to use to shuttle recruits and their families around Athens while on official visits to UGA. She had already been to dinner that evening with a recruit and his family. Apparently she was continuing to use the vehicle after hours to drive herself and friends around. It is not clear why the four were hanging out together that evening other than they were personal friends. There haven’t been any reports (to my knowledge) that the staffers were romantically involved with the players. Reportedly they were on there way to Waffle House to meet some other players for a late night breakfast

The section of Barnett Shoals Rd where the accident occurred was at the bottom of a long hill and it would be easy to pick up speed in a large, heavy, unfamiliar SUV, and easy to lose control in a relatively sharp turn.

I drive on this road every day. You must be thinking of a different one.

There might be a slight slope (honestly I've never noticed), but it's not a hill. And I would call it more of a bend than a turn, certainly not a sharp one.

I'm not trying to insinuate anything about what happened. But again, I'm very familiar with this road and the way people are describing it just isn't consistent with my experience driving on it every day for years.

Good information on some of the outstanding questions currently under investigation.

Admittedly I haven't read all/many of the articles on the accident. It is a sad and depressing story.

I can see scenarios where staffers shuttle athletes to/from campus for a variety of legitimate reasons. That precedent opens the door to liability for the University.

The last piece of relevant information to be released will be the toxicology test results.

I imagine that there will be significant changes coming out of this tragedy. There always are.

The program will need to reconsider allowing staffers to be drivers. They should escort recruits around, but driving should be done by professionals. This extends to providing drivers to the players on a no question asked basis.

I can also see restrictions on the amount of permitted interaction between staffers and players. Everyone knows that the bars and clubs in Athens have underaged patrons. But the program cannot allow its staffers to be in a bar with a player who is underaged. Regardless of what happened, the appearance of the program condoning that behavior can be a problem.
