He's interviewed with 2 different NFL teams. He clearly wants to get back to the NFL, and if he doesn't go this year he probably will go next year. Juding by comments on the Athletic's article on the Ravens' OC search, Monken's the fan favorite.

And I wish him the best.

For me, the crucial question is whether we have someone studying Monken's scheme and play-calling so that we can keep the offense humming whenever Monken heads on.

In one article it's not about the money, its about wanting to be back in the NFL, and in this one it is? If it's not the money, then save it. We sort of already knew he could make more in Athens than the NFL, unless one team decides to step out of line with the current OC pay scale.

Of course maybe we're talking about just making it look ridiculous to move to the NFL, with the money difference being so drastic. I'm good with that. Ilike seeing wide open receivers.

He may want to go back to the NFL, but I can't see why. Entitle players, level talent field - what's the point. At UGA -Kids who want to win real, real bad - can be motivated - check. Kids who are way better than most of the competition - check. The pleasure of turning a lump of coal into a diamond, check. UGA checks all the boxes. Sure, back up the brinks truck, but even so, he should really see how green the grass is in Sanford stadium. I hope he does.

Monken is the proverbial rolling stone; not gathering much moss. Yikes! 7 different new jobs in the past 10 years, may say more about his personaility than anything else. Looks like he's searching for something, just not sure of what he's looking for. If he was a kid or much younger you could perhaps understand, but he's no spring chicken.

Yep. And I don't think it's about the money. I'm just surprised he didn't (finally) find what he's looking for in the Georgia football/Athens/$$ package he has, and settle right in for a good long stretch. Of course that's just me seeing things through admittedly biased filters. And this chapter isn't finished, yet. Go Dawgs!

Bobo is the heir apparent and maybe learning from Monken will prove beneficial. No more run up the middle twice and have a 3rd and 6 where the opponent knows you are passing.

UGA set multiple UGA offensive records when he was OC. He got a HC job because of his work as an OC at UGA. So its not like he was a disaster. He didn't **** or close to it. He also had an offensive HC he had to adhere to. Just saying.

That being said, the game has changed a lot in the last decade and Bobo and his offensive knowledge and schemes may not be nearly as effective, if he has not grown enough with the times. But, as you said, being under Monken can only help and another year or more under Monken would be a godsend if he were to become OC again.

Just my humble opinion here nothing more. I Sure hope Monken will stay for At Least this year. But if he goes I have a ample gut feeling we will see Bobo. Why ? Because he and Kirby are good friends and go waaay back. Because after all Bobo did play at UGA. Because Bobo has had Allot of OC experience. Because his son is a player at UGA. But this last is the Most Important of all, as an O analyst on the staff he Had to have had Plenty of exposure to The Monken Way !! I mean he was analyzing the Offense right ? For Me only Time would tell if making Bobo the OC would be a good decision. In my humble opinion it would be a mistake to judge him by his past as OC at UGA. He’s crossed Allot of water since then. Now correct me if I’m wrong, I don’t mind it, but offensive production wasn’t so much the problem at Colorado St. as he had little to no defense production. I wasn’t zeroed in on him at Colorado St. but my understanding was his Over All HC abilities didn’t cut it. Much like Will Muschamp. Will seems to have found his niche Again at UGA. Not to many people complained about Muschamp’s Defensive Coaching abilities, he just couldn’t cut it as a HC. I think the same might Now be true of Bobo. If he’s studied The Monken Style, and I bet he has, he Might fare really well with the level of talent now at UGA. IF Monken does leave, and Again I Hope he doesn’t, I’m willing to see what Bobo could do with this very talented O. Just my take. P.S. Had I been judged in my older days by my younger days, Oh Goodness I’d be in a mess !!

As I and others (including the author of this story) have said, it's clearly not about the money. UGA can (and likely would) pay Monken whatever he wants. He has an itch that money alone cannot scratch. If he stays, he will surely get more money, but he's not hunting around to drum up more money. And as for folks who believe that Bobo has learned so much and will just keep doing it "the Monken way," I don't buy that. All these guys have huge egos, and while I'm sure Bobo respects and learned from Monken, don't think for a moment that he won't want to put his own imprint on the offense, should he get the job. The fact that we're sort of twisting in the wind with no announcement, makes me hopeful but nervous. I'm still not sure Schuman won't leave. Yeah, I know Saban hired Kevin Steele, but he's not the only fisherman in the sea. Oh well, onward and upward. Go Dawgs!

We did and he just left to be OC at Georgia Tech. Buster Faulkner, he has been a OC for 11 of his 18 years as a college football coach. He was OC at some smaller schools such as Valdosta State, Southern Miss, Arkansas State, Middle Tenn, and Murray. He came to Georgia when Monken came as quality control analyst and has been in the Air raid type system all the way back to his college playing days.

So if Monken does leave and if Bobo did get the job how can we assume that would be bad ? Or good ? My humble opinion is Time would have to tell us. If Bobo did get the job and had sort of a mixture of his own ideas stirred in with Monken’s that might not necessarily be a bad thing. I’m sure that because of his success rival Defenses have studied him intensely looking for weaknesses. So a mixture might throw those rival Ds off. No I can’t say with absolute assurance that hiring Bobo would be a good thing. But I’m not gonna say it’d be a bad thing either. I will say this there’s a pretty fair likelihood that he could be the next OC. He’s got so many ties to UGA in so many ways. So no sarcasm at you or anyone else but if Monken leaves Dawgs fans that Don’t like the idea of Bobo better be braced cause it’s very possible. That said I trust in Kirby to make the right decisions whether it’s Bobo or someone else. Friends or not and fellow Dawgs, and Bobo has a son playing at UGA, if Kirby doesn’t believe Bobo is up to the task he won’t hire him into that slot. All just my opinions. I’m like everyone else, we’ll just have to wait and see how it all plays out.

i would love to be a fly on the wall of Kirby's office when he and Monken are talking. What is he really interested in, and what will it really take to get him to stay?
