    I think this increases the chances of renewing the Jacksonville contract due to the potential 9-game conference schedule. That would be 4-home games, 4-away games and Florida remains neutral site. A lot will depend on how much Jacksonville is willing to pay. Money trumps everything these days.

    I hope our defense gets to welcome Manning to the SEC and show him what he’s missing in Athens. Go Dawgs!!

    Doubtful. It's still a lost home weekend of recruiting every other year against what we consider a premier opponent. 8,9, even 12 SEC games wouldn't change the calculus on Kirby's stated position. The only thing that gets that contract signed is if Brooks simply can't turn down the money.

    "I hate to admit, but back in the day I would have been a little intimidated to play an extra SEC game, knowing that my Dawgs tended to lose at least one they shouldn’t have every year. Glad to say things are different. I now welcome the challenge and look forward to the best out there throwing their best at us. I’d much rather see another SEC opponent rather than a cupcake game."

    I was just thinking the same. Nothing against Richt, but that was UGA's MO in his tenure. I don't worry about that with Kirby at the helm. They beat who they should beat and handle ranked teams like a swiss watch.

    We lived in Charleston for 10 years ( Daniel Island) and live in Scottsdale AZ now. Planning on coming back to Ctown area to retire. Miss seeing the Dawgs in person. Go Dawgs.

    Hallelujah! Glad to see this come around finally. Add a 9th SEC game, get rid of divisions, and we're all set.

    "Georgia was supposed to play at Oklahoma in 2023 in the first game of a home-and-home, but the SEC essentially forced the Bulldogs to drop that game on account of the Sooners’ pending addition to the league."

    I have asked before and nothing but crickets. Why were we "forced" to drop Oklahoma. But Alabama was and is still scheduled to play Texas in 2023?

    Something is wrong here and UGA fans are owed a honest explanation. I since it is because the SEC would loose some money. But, I am sure this move costs Georgia big time plus it hurts our strength of schedule.

    Because Bama/Texas will compete their home and home this season before the realignment starts next year

    $49.9m, Vandy isn’t even thinking about leaving or improve, they get ~$50m at the end of the year, wow!

    Well, if that's really the case, then someone in authority could just explain it. But I agree with @rjallen, the average UGA fan is wondering why we couldn't have just played at OU this year as scheduled, and then they would do the return game to Athens in whatever year the SEC deems fit. If it was a matter of how they dice up the money, then fine, make it work somehow for the good of the fans. In essence, that's what Texas and OU did to get into the SEC a year early. They FIGURED OUT A WAY (meaning the money) to make it work and get it done for 2024 when it was seemingly a lost cause. Go Dawgs!

    My guess is...

    UGA vs TEX.....would have been the 1st of a "home & home" contract. UGA wouldn't have been able to complete the agreement with the 2nd game, because TEX would have to abide by SEC Scheduling in 2028 or 2029 (when the 2nd game was supposed to be played).

    BAMA vs TEX.....is the 2nd game of a "home & home" contract. Therefore the agreement would be met, before TEX joins the SEC.

    @MikeGriffith

    Mike...that's a lot of money going to 14 teams. I'm curious...is the UGA Athletic Department providing the same fiduciary assistance to their Basketball and Baseball Programs that other SEC Schools are providing to theirs?

    I.e., is UGA Basketball getting the same financial support that, say...AUB or BAMA (or TENN & LSU) provides to their Basketball program?? Why has AUB & BAMA been so much more successful on the Basketball court than UGA?

    Same question, regarding the Baseball program. Why the disparity?
