    So many DGDs, and Darnell is right in the thick of it. Of course his performance at the combine will be stellar, but do they have a metric for consummate team player? Go Dawgs!

    @khummel

    There are plenty of consummate team players in this draft who proved that they can be effective route runners and consistent pass catchers from the TE position in college. Also, NFL GMs, coaches and offensive coordinators would take a "me first" guy who can give them 850 yards and 6 TDs a season over a team player who gives them 300 yards and 2 TDs in a heartbeat.

    Circumstances at UGA - buried behind veterans, the pandemic hampering practices and a mess on offense in 2020, injuries in 2021, getting overshadowed by a generational player in Brock Bowers in 2022 plus no downfield passing game his entire tenure - prevented him from developing at UGA and showing off his skills. You are asking NFL teams to overlook far more polished guys who are very good athletes in their own right in order to reward Washington's decision to remain at UGA over transferring. That's not fair to those teams - who need to prioritize guys who can help them win games over rewarding guys for sacrificing to win college national titles - or to the other players, the vast majority of whom never had a realistic chance of ever going to UGA in the first place.

    I beg to differ... I think NFL teams are leery of me-first guys, and especially in top rounds (where Washington will go) are looking for and fully expect to get kids that can play every aspect of the position at a high level while also being evolved as human beings... like Washington. Talk to me in 5 years when Washington is dominating becuase he's the whole package and your guys are being shipped off like toxic waste. Go Dawgs!

    Darnell Washington = Huge Target for QB to throw to, Very hard to tackle and breaks tackles for extra yards, Excellent blocking skills, his height gives him the advantage in most cases on jump balls. Summary: With NFL S&C and Training he will do Very well. And Yes reliability and loyalty to team Are factored in by NFL teams when their thumping down millions of $$ and have to work within salary caps. Prima-Donna guys are risky business. That’s not a worry with the Big O !!

    I'm not sure there is a more polished TE is size. You will see come draft day if you rhetoric about what Coaches and GM's are going to do. While I do not think Darnell will be the 1st TE off the board but I am 100% confident he will go far earlier than some of the more "polished" TE's with many more receiving yards. The reason why, TE's are also heavily required to block and Washington may be the most polished at that skillset and also, he has a huge ceiling. Anthony Richardson is a guy at the QB position that hasn't posted mind blowing numbers in college but because of his measurables, he is predicted as a first rounder.
