Being the youngest quarterback at Georgia, you’d be forgiven for discounting Gunner Stockton in the upcoming quarterback derby. Carson Beck has spent two more years in college compared to Stockton while Brock Vandagriff is a redshirt sophomore.

Stockton had a marvelous HS career and comes to UGA with the potential to be a very successful CFB QB. However, that won't be this season. IF GS was to appear to be favored as the starter in the spring UGA could see both Beck and BVG hit the TP. That would leave UGA with 1 scholarship QB.

Safe to say that CKS will go the safe route. Play a more experienced QB and retain GS for another year as back up.

BTW GS has okay size for CFB but not the prototypical size to play QB at the next level. GS probably about an inch taller than SBIV.

Really Proud of Beck for not up and running to another team last year. However I just can’t see all three hanging around after Spring practice. I know their character has to be first rate to be humble enough to rep the G as a backup considering their talent and skills.

if anyone transfers it will be a loss, however I can never hold any ill will towards them. It’s just the price you pay in the transfer world. And even though SBIV was outstanding, that extra covid year did not help the playing time for those in the wings

“While Stockton, Beck and Vandagriff will all be working in a new offense next season…..” do you really think BoBo will put in a new offense????

I think what we are seeing is a stable of young, but very gifted QBs. They are competing for No 1. I also believe one will be gone following spring practice and G game. You must have field time and stats to move on to the league. One will have to leave...maybe two. Its saddening to have to say that, but true,

“He’s a good coach and was a good quarterback when he was at Georgia too,” Georgia coach Kenny McIntosh said.

I’m concerned that Coach Kenny McIntosh could get drafted in April and CKS will have to scramble to find a replacement for whatever position group he coaches (Conner will have to let us know which group that is).

    GO DAWGS!

I really think this is the year some of our back up QB's hit the portal. If Beck don't get the nod, I think he will have to go if he has NFL aspirations. If Stockton were to get the nod then I think Kirby will be hard pressed to keep either Brock or Carson around. If Carson gets it, Vandagriff may get itchy and I know he loves Georgia but the thoughts of his future may out weigh that love.

How ever it falls I just hope the best one for the job gets it and whatever unintended consequences come about, we address when they do. I'm not to worried about 2 of them entering the TP only leaving us with 1 scholarship QB because Kirby will hit the portal for someone else.

Not sure who will be the starter, but if I were going to war, I would want GS in the fox whole with me.

I'd be highly surprised to see anyone other than Beck starting Game #1. I also expect to see Vandagriff #2 and be given some playing time but if he doesn't perform then i bet Stockton will get more backup time.

I’m a greedy Dawgs fan, I want Em all to stay !! Guess that’s selfish on my part, but sure wish for the sake of the team they would. I think All three have Huge potential over time. One would think that based purely on experience Beck will be very hard to upstage. But BVG has so much athleticism, and he looks like a Big dude to !! In my humble opinion if it were to go Beck, BVG, then Gunner as number 3, then it would be premature for Gunner to want to transfer wouldn’t it ? I could easily see and understand if Gunner passed BVG and made number 2 where BVG would want to go. I get that. And if either pass Beck to become the number one guy, I think Beck would leave. Hopefully if it ended up Beck, BVG, Gunner they’d All stay. Hopefully. I do want to see very vigorous competition though, cause that’s a good thing regardless. Get out there and hit it hard guys, and may the best man win !!

I believe the coaches will leave the spring transfer window giving the impression it’s Beck, BVG, then GS. of course that would be the best bet to keep them in Athens.

But the players can see what’s happening and their respective camps will help them make a decision that’s best for them.

im glad GS is a Dawg- he knew the pecking order when he signed up. Only difference was that 6th year Bennett received changed things a little. And I believe Beck may also have access to another year- but seeing the age pushback Bennett is getting, he may not use it (another note- why isn’t Henson Hooker getting the same “you’re too old” stuff)
