Jalen Carter pro day performance leaves NFL teams with only more questions
ATHENS — Jalen Carter was back on the field at Georgia’s pro day on Wednesday. With all 32 teams present, Carter though left NFL teams asking even more questions regarding his NFL draft future.

Drop to 8 and HOPEFULLY the Falcons take him.
One can only hope! HC Smith was there so I hope he saw what he wanted to see!!!

I get the love and admiration his teammates have for him, and I understand what Nolan Smith is trying to do. But you can throw every analogy or justification you want to at this situation and it won’t change the fact that Carter has had some pretty serious lapses in judgment. I hope it works out for him, but I mostly hope he (and everybody else in that program) has learned from them.

I don't know about that. The Falcons have made tons of excuses over the decades on being the only NFL franchise not to draft local talent when the opportunity presents itself. Seriously. Literally everyone else does. At first we thought it was due to some grudge on the part of the Smith family, but then Arthur Blank buys them and keeps it rolling. Even after hiring GMs from franchises that drafted UGA (and Tech) players all the time.
So, I would rather the Falcons not take Carter, have it turn out to be a debacle and then use it as an excuse not to take another UGA player for the next 25 years. Would rather them take Chris Smith in the 3rd, or maybe Robert Beal or Nolan Smith (the Falcons run the same basic scheme as UGA so no worries there). Even better: take one of Broderick Jones or Warren McClendon - why not both? - to address the Falcons' perpetually mediocre offensive line (the 3 years I remember them having a good OL, they go to one NFC title game and 2 Super Bowls).
Jalen has a lot to be distracted by.
And not just his own legal issues. He's got to be affected by his alleged connection to the accident that killed his teammate.
When they talked about Devin at yesterday's Q&A, K. Milton and Smart reminded me how hard the accident must be on the coaches, the staff and especially the players. One moment, they were celebrating an amazing achievement; the next, they found out that two members of their football family were killed in a horrible accident. Many people close to the program will surely remember this championship as a bittersweet one.
The best that can come out of Willock's passing is for Jalen Carter and all his former teammates to grow from the experience, and for the coaches and staff to improve in their efforts to keep these precious, talented youngsters from making costly mistakes.
All you need to know about his attitude is at the beginning of the Mizzou game. He went looking for trouble during the warmups and kept walking down to the Mizzou side and doing that cocky smile crap and holding up his Nat. Champ. ring and saying "You got one of these?". He has a MAJOR entitled attitude and is probably lying about his involvement with the car crash. He thought he had his $$ locked up and it has caught up with him. He will go to some "bad boy" team who is desperate in the 10-20 range and they will regret it and want to get rid of him after 2 years.

I think some of your points are valid @Mosesnatty41 , although we can't know everything that he has said about the accident, so to say that he's "probably lying" would be a stretch. But I, too, was extremely concerned by what I saw during the Missouri game. I firmly believe Carter instigated that pre-game incident and he definitely kept the stirring the pot about it. From then on, I tried to pay attention to him during games to see what his antics were like on the sidelines (and even on the field between plays) and some of the things he did concerned me even more. Carter likes to push the envelope as it were. It's the sort of hidden stuff that you don't notice unless you focus. (Sort of like when Brenton Cox of Florida "unintentionally" intentionally ran over a referee on the sidelines in a game this year). Jalen can act like a bully because he knows he's the strongest guy out there. And he does little things that the players on the field see and notice -- and maybe even the coaches -- but not quite enough to draw attention of screaming fans and preoccupied TV announcers. At halftime of the National Championship game in LA -- I was there -- Kirby Smart and the "fixer" (that's what I call the Black guy whose name I don't know but is the liaison to all the players) had to rush onto the field and physically escort Jalen off of it because he was getting too "chatty" with a TCU player. I don't know how much of the encounter, if any, made it on TV, but there was something there that just made you think, "why, dude? We're killing them. We don't need this." So yeah, although Carter is a great player and, I'm sure, a great teammate, from the things I saw during the season -- and now some of the things that we know about off the field -- he has some issues. Some of them are simple maturity issues. But I don't think all of them are. And now, it appears those issues are going to cost him some money. How much remains to be seen. Go Dawgs!
