Georgia nearing deal to hire Wes Johnson as new head baseball coach
Georgia baseball has found its new baseball coach, as the school is finalizing a deal to name Wes Johnson as the program’s new head baseball coach. ESPN’s Pete Thamel was the first to report the move.

Hopefully Coach Johnson can turn the baseball program around, and get it headed in the right direction..GoDAWGS!
Pitching (especially the bullpen) has been the primary reason for the team's failures over the past few years. This guy has an excellent pedigree and vast experience in the SEC and MLB. Hopefully, he's the answer.
Pitching definitely our weak area. We’ve lost many games over the years due to bad starts or bullpen collapses. Hope he can get it done. Welcome Coach Johnson! Go Dawgs!
I trust in Josh Brooks, made the safe hire in Mike White and so far is working out well. Hopefully this guy is a little more charismatic than Scott Strickland and can infuse more energy into the program. Go Dawgs !!!
He is a wonderful hire, probably or arguably one of the best pitching coaches in country!
We will be able to pitch, catch, hit and run BUT can he keep the talent rich state of Georgia -- to play at Georgia!
Coach Strickland and Coach Perno lost their way when they let these kids go to other state schools! If Coach Johnson doesn't or can't keep them home, it will be the same outcome!
Perno was the last UGA Baseball coach to take the DAWGS to the CWS..way back in 2008. A 15 year absence from the CWS for UGA is ridiculous with the talent already on the roster, and in state HS talent to recruit. Hopefully Johnson can turn it around, and put the DAWGS back in the CWS.
Needs to surround himself with the right guys. I think Wes knows a lot of people who could assist him and improve the program, but it's always difficult to get them all. The school needs to invest in that program (and others) and trust Wes's insight on what it's going to take to make that program successful.
Looks like we got ourselves a good one!
