Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:

- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Bulldog Bites: UGA has more than football to cheer about this year
Sometimes it seems like football sucks all the oxygen out of the room at UGA.

Not to get too picky or greedy, but sure would like to see the lady dogs get back to the top of the heap in gymnastics like they were for so many years. Swimmers have also been national champs in years past, so would like to get back to that form, as well. Go Dawgs!
Thanks Bill, I always enjoy your articles.
I'd like us to be competitive in every sport and win every game, but the only sport I care all that much about is college football.
It is nice to hear a little bit about the others.
Go, Dawgs!
Though Georgia football is the only sport (of any kind) I'm fully rabid about, I care about all things UGA. I even read the dang magazine they send me. :) Go Dawgs!
Also, didn't know much about Brooks when he was promoted, but he sure seems like a good fit for years to come. Go Dawgs!
As a UGA fan I care about all sports and if they could beat uf or utk in twiddledy winks I'll get excited. Winning at a high level in any sport, especially the so called revenue sports, helps football and academia. Go All Dawgs !!!
I agree completely with this quote. But, on this topic, when talk of building a statute to this person or that one comes up, I have one answer: Build it to Greg McGarity, for it was he that had the foresight to see that there was a brief window we could get Kirby, and he had the cahones to fire perhaps the best loved, and highly successful, coaches in Georgia history, Mark Richt. Go Greg!!!
Not sure we can praise him. It's kind of like lighting a house on fire and then rushing in to put it out and asking everyone to call you a hero. McGarity was also the reason Richt wasn't more successful. We simply couldn't get the funding needed to be a top tier program and that absolutely hurt us getting over the top and taking that last step. So yes McGarity screwed Richt along with Adams and then wants to be acknowledged for hiring Kirby?! Even a broken clock is right twice a day and that is what McGarity can claim regarding the Smart hire.
I don't know about a statue for Greg, but he certainly deserves credit. Unfortunately, a lot of folks didn't like him for some reason and don't want to give him any credit for Coach Smart's hiring.
It's exciting and encouraging to have a National Championship winning baseball coach in Wes Johnson coming to be the head coach at UGA. His experience and being a part of LSU's win will surely help him be successful at UGA. He definitely sounds like he has a plan and the facility upgrades at Foley field can only help.
Basketball seems to be trending up too. Coach White and, again, the improvement of the facilities at Stegeman should help.
It was great to have Ethan Quinn win the Men's Singles Tennis National Championship as a FRESHMAN!!
The football schedule sets up great to put us on the path to the SECCG and the CFP National Championship. You gotta believe in the 3-Peat! Let's win one last SEC East Championship and then move on from there. 2024 schedule looks incredible. I'm looking forward to being able to enjoy the south side of the Sanford Stadium upgrades; so long overdue, but they will help tremendously with the crowds and lines.
Thank you, Bill, for the update on the membership packets and the reviews/summaries of the various keepsake books.
"The hopes for more attractive home schedules Between the Hedges especially should be bolstered if the conference finally bites the bullet and adds a ninth conference game in 2025, eliminating one of those wasted days at Sanford Stadium devoted to who-gives-a-crap lesser nonconference teams."
Every time I read stupidity like this it pi$$e$ me off. Those "wasted days" are crucial to smaller colleges in keeping their programs alive. They are typically the biggest moneymakers for those "who-gives-a-crap lesser nonconference teams." They also support these colleges other sports programs. If the only colleges able to support athletic programs are the huge institutions then millions of athletes will be deprived of an education and eventually all colleges will become devoid of athletics. Also some of the greatest players have emerged form these schools, Jerry Rice and Walter Payton for example.
