It's a shame that folks directly associate this forum and DN with the AJC. Same parent company that requires name stamps at the bottom of the page to include Cox and the AJC. None of the reporters here write articles for the AJC and Vice Versa.
Look at it this way, it's like step siblings that have to live in the same house, but don't care for or talk to each other.
I certainly don’t fault BA, Jeff, Mike, Connor or crew. However, you can’t look past the fact that it was the AJC that ran DN at the beginning and still has a major influence. I could be wrong, and it may be Cox Media, but a parent company is a parent company… If we don’t speak up, who will?
I do find it telling that none of DawgNation's reporters have written an article about UGA's demand for retraction letter. That seems like something the readers would be interested in reading.
When your parents are putting the food on table and paying the bills, are you going to p.ss them off about crying what your stepbrother said? I think folks are trying to integrate more than whats going on. I'll wager that both DN and AJC employees receive a paycheck from Cox Ent. In anyone can prove that DN is paid for, and the employees salaries are paid directly from the AJC, I'll eat my crow.
But in turn Dawgnation is holding hands with the AJC when they aren't reporting UGA news. That's what we're here to read and talk about. It's all one family. I understand some not wanting to support the AJC or any Cox media subsidiaries.
Consider that the DN beat reporters may be under an agreement that they can't do it in their contracts or it's biting the hand that feeds you in an indirect way.
As a disclaimer, I have NO use for the AJC and haven't looked at or read an article from it in over 30 years. I enjoyed the late, greats Lewis Grizzard and Ron Hudspeth, but that was it. My point is being on and with DN going on 6/7 years, I have never seen, in anyway, any correlation between either of them reporting wise. When the spinoff occurred to form DN, it's always operated separate from the AJC.
I agree. I would think Mike Griffith would do a good job of checking this out.

but Mike and the other DN writers seem obliged to report on another speeding Incident involving the Dawgs or report on the filing of another lawsuit against the Dawgs (neither of which is wrong to report on, mind you) than report on the retraction demand and it’s inevitable effect on the ajc or the veracity of the original reports …..Maybe they can’t report on such, IDK……neither he nor the other beat writers reported on the original stories either which leads to the speculation that they are not allowed to……
The articles put out by Judd have been hit jobs (like a bully picking on a weakling) and when called out to defend them , he has run and hidden (just like the school bully). How the ajc reacts to this demand will be news and I would like to read about it here first. (As @ghostofuga1 has stated….they may have the same parent, but they SHOULD not be the same kid…..so I don’t equate the two)…….but, will they report then!?

I have for years enjoyed the Dawgnation site as a great source UGA football coverage and it grieves me to say this, but their silence to this point on the AJC/Judd controversy is deafening. Either they have been told or at least suspect they'll be fired if they challenge the AJC or they actually support the hit jobs the disgraced Judd has put out. I personaly believe it's the former, but regardless if the AJC does not quickly get rid of Judd (like the Louisvile Courier did), retract his articles and apologize to UGA, then you will see that Dawg fans will have no choice but to leave this site en masse.
I take the DN journalists silence on all this as NOT supporting what Judd wrote and what the AJC has so far supported. Smart play in #1 keeping your job and #2 staying in UGA's good graces for inside information.
I understand people leaving but don't blame this site or DN journalists for what one st00pid writer with a dubious past wrote and the AJC decided to publish.
What better place to complain about the AJC and a st00pid writer than on an Cox Media owned board.
Agree 💯 it's an opportunity to fight back rather than to run off. Just my humble opinion. In this case I only blame the author of this yellow journalism and the editors that let him publish it!

I don't think that anyone on DN supports what Judd or the AJC did on this, and I know why they aren't mentioning it, but it's really hard to hear about all the "medias bad takes on UGA", and not hear about this. This isn't someone at ESPN saying that UGA isn't as good a Michigan, this is saying that UGA is okay with sexual assault.
So, yeah, I get why people are pissed over DN not mentioning this. And, believe me, I love BA, but his "I'm not in a position to talk about other people's work" comment is ludicrous. That's literally one of the main aspects of his job.
Again, I get it, they can't piss off the bosses, but geez.
I think this is a good take. Kind of like if you can't say anything good, don't say anything at all. Maybe BA has had the best grasp of the big picture for reporters under this umbrella all along. Sorry to see the elderly Mr. Judd succumb to his demon, seemingly suppressed for decades. He should move to The Villages, I'm staying in DAWGNATION!
Judd’s critical reaction of those bringing up his professional indiscretions from 35 years ago might would’ve been valid had he produced a solid investigative journalistic piece that had provable and thus credible sources, along with irrefutable facts and documentations. You know, excellent journalism. However, the opposite is now obviously true.
The striking similarities between what he did and didn’t do in 1988 that led to his resignation, and now this 2023 situation, makes the connection between the two incidents undeniably clear and therefore relevant, especially in light of how the UGA letter makes factual and provable claims against the article that exposes his unprofessional and reckless journalism, if not also maybe exposing a seeming vendetta against UGA.
In regard to DN, this is about as messy as things can get within a company one works for. Consequently, I don’t blame the DN personalities that have been mentioned here for at least temporarily taking the high road and staying out of the line of fire. This thing is still developing, and wisdom should prevent one from unnecessarily throwing themselves into the fray. So, I’m okay with that and am therefore staying.
Yeah...whatever happened to letting things play out...the most important thing is that UGA takes care of business. There's no telling what type of impact this could make on the AJC by the time the issue is resolved.
