Ongoing quarterback competition no reason to doubt Georgia championship hopes
ATHENS — If you’re wondering why Georgia isn’t bringing projected starting quarterback Carson Beck to SEC Media Days this week, you might want to pay closer attention.

If Brock doesn't start, he can thank UGA for a degree but might as well and go elsewhere if he wants to see the field again. Can't blame him. Thoroughbreds want to play.

The Dawgs are blessed to have three QB's that would start at any SEC school with the exception of LSU....and there it would be a fierce competition. These three get to practice against the best first and second team defense in America. Given the way things have worked out the past three years, it's reasonable to believe that in 2023 not only will all three get playing time but at any time disaster could occur and if you weren't the starter, YOU are now and the next man up. NFL teams know the level of competition and the strenuous rigors placed on every DAWG. There is no doubt that being a back up at Georgia is more impressive than being a starter at most D-1 schools. WHY then , would anyone think any of these three would ever transfer? They all have earned the distinction of DGD! With that said, there is a level of loyalty to you TEAM, school, coaches, and fan base that is a foundational characteristic of all DGDs!
And Miss St
And South Carolina
Probably Tenn and Ole Miss.......
UGA QB wire-to-wire???
Not this year, Baby! I see revolving quarterbacks in Georgia's immediate future. Who knows, which one of those very talented quarterbacks will be "The Last Man Standing".
IMO...it'll be the one that.... "Communicates the Best"; has the "Best Connection with the Team & Coaching Staff"; understands what Bobo wants to do and executes without a lot of direction.
The "Starting QB"...if there is one...will be the guy that makes the OC the most irrelevant......I.e., Coach on the field...calls plays, protections and reads defenses the best.
Now, I believe all 3 quarterbacks are very talented and capable. They've all been there long enough to learn what they needed to learn, in a lot of respects. But...Bobo is a different animal with different ideas on how to score TD's.
Bobo's not quite as patient as Monkin was. I don't know for sure, how much of "that", was Monkin...and how much was Smart. In any case, I see Bobo in the extremely unique position, of having 3 qualified "Starting QB's" on the roster. He NEVER had that under Richt.
When Richt DID have more than 1 Starting QB...he played em both (Greene & Shockley). I think Bobo may try the same thing, with this in mind...play a first half, second half type game.
FIRST HALF: Beck/Stockton in the first half to run the score up while the defense is fresh.
SECOND HALF: BVG/Stockton in the second half for ball control/clock management. Allow the defense to platoon the secondary more, to prevent a "passing attack comeback" and keep the ball out of the hands of the opposition.
The name of the game, IMO...is to keep the top scoring defense in the Country, fresh...and, deep. The offense will be used as a tool to that effect.
Not a fan of the 2 qb system. I am trying to remember when it ever worked great for anyone.
Pick a qb by game 2 and go with that one. I do like letting the backup qb sling it a little so they are not completely uncomfortable if they have to come in in relief. Pick a qb - 1 person.
Ray Goff, the running QB, and Matt Robinson, the passing QB…..UGA won the SEC title in 1976 finishing 10-1 in the regular season and played Pittsburgh and Tony Dorsett for the National Championship in the Sugar Bowl
Ended up 4th in the final polls
Ancient history, I know, but you asked!
Before my time. Thanks for answering though. Ray's a good guy, I didn't realize that team had 2 qbs.
