10 3rd down snaps, you know what's coming but you don't know how.....great exercise on reading defenses and the QB's ability to adjust the play to exploit the defense....initially, I'd give Vandagriff the edge because of his scrambling ability but on second thought, Beck's experience, and strong arm will win plus his scrambling has improved greatly.

I just feel like Beck is inevitable. Injuries do happen so Griff might get his chance if that plays out.

Beck has round 1 type arm talent and a very good release. Griff has a windup release issue that needs to be solved and could prove to be a problem. Yes, Griff is better at running but that wind up really is an issue.

Leadership between the 2 I am not sure. That will be the difference most likely but on pure talent of reading defenses, arm strength, release, drop back, I think Beck is the clear favorite. It is Beck's to lose.

Arm strength maybe the most over-rated part of being a college QB. Accuracy, throwing your receiver open, placing it where only the receiver has the best shot at it, timing of your throws with the moment the receiver is most open, etc.. are all more important than pure arm strenth.

I have, and I'm sure most of you on here have, rewatched the Ohio St game mulitple times and what jumps out at me about C.J.Stroud was his ability to scramble or at least roll out of the pocket and place the ball where he knew his receiver would be, or he led his receiver open, or put it where his guy had the best shot at it. And yet the majority of his throws (TD passes included) the ball seemed to be coming down as if it was a dove that had been wounded in slow motion. I kept thinking where is our defender? He ought to be able to knock it down. Even on the so called targeting hit by Bullard, that ball was coming down from the heavens wobbling like a gyroscope that has lost it's inertia and yet we didn't have a guy near the receiver to knock it down, Ringo lost sight of the ball and was just trying to react to the receiver but Bullard saved us.

I watched a video of Caleb Williams yesterday, and a couple of other QB's when they were in HS after a 7 on 7 competition and they were at the 50 yard line(I believe) and they were throwing at the goal post trying to hit the crossbar and to my recollection they all hit it within a couple of throws. Most of these kids coming out of HS that are 4 and 5 stars can do that. Arm strength isn't the issue.

The wind up is though. QBs that wind up or double pump a lot can often times lead to turnovers. Can you speak to the wind up. Everything I have heard is this is a real problem. Beck is not a bad scrambler. He is not a statue back there.

"The wind up" means very little at the CFB level when you are standing behind a Joe Moore level line and able to pound the ball down the throat of a defense. Especially when you can move the pocket and buy whatever time you need to throw it. SBIV was sacked 9(?) times last season.

All 3 UGA QB's have plenty enough arm to be good CFB QB's. Who starts this season will be the best game manager. We all know how risk averse CKS is. He will put the guy out there that can manage the team, knows the O, when to change the play, when to throw it away and turns the ball over the least.

Right now Beck looks like the most comfortable game manager. On one hand all 3 guys have used up their RS year. So there is no advantage to not playing all 3. On the other hand we know how much CKS hates the media and fans 2nd guessing who the starting QB is.

I don't think CKS wants to create a QB controversy. Beck will probably get the lion's share of game snaps. The other 2 will play. If Beck plays well he will continue to start.
