Big Ten coordinator of officials second-guesses Pac-12 crew in Georgia-Ohio State game
ATHENS — Georgia has taken down Michigan and Ohio State the past two seasons, and the Big Ten can’t seem to get over it.

Bullard's hit on the OS receiver clearly was not targeting. Maybe the hit was just too hard for B1G standards.
Did they also review the COUNTLESS OSU holding calls missed by the Refs?
What about illegal touching? Harrison was out of bounds and first player to touch the pass.
When you know an official's name you know too much about an official. Looking at the play live I didn't think targeting or personal foul. Upon review multiple times here the officials got the call right. That is a typical tackle you see 30 times in an average football game. It wasn't excessive in any way. Especially when you consider Harrison outweighs Bullard by 25 lbs. If that is too rough for CFB then go ahead and make it touch football now and be done with it.
This is all just fuel that can be added to the Dawgs fire should they meet either team again. What was Bullard supposed to do, let him catch it? He made the play of the game and did it in the right manner by leading with his shoulder. If the Buckeyes thought it was too rough then there's your answer as to why UGA has it's second Natty in as many years and they don't. Simple as that. Ohio State had so many blatent no holding calls it was ridiculous, so cry me a river.
Of course he does.
How about this: sew an extra pocket on Harbaugh and Day's pants, and let them bring their own officials, and keep them in the extra pocket. Then when they loose they can blame it on the seamstress.
I thought bama fans cried a river with their injuries, but osu, their fans and even their refs are crying an ocean. We had injuries, too. Like finebaum told an osu caller today, their defense got shredded by a walk on QB.
“.... It’s fair to assume that a targeting call, or at least a personal foul call, would’ve pushed Ohio State to the National Championship Game the following week.”......this is a clear case of WTBOS....wishful thinking bucket of skata.....(that's Greek for a smelly excrement). I suppose Bill Captian Crunch Carollo is a no comment on the no holding calls, or Marv's step out of bounds, or the DAWGS total shut down of TOS offencse in the forth and The DAWGS running an 18 to 3 scoring binge......I've got news for Captain Crunch, SBIV was not going to be denied in the forth and TOS was not going to win....ie: The DAWG D shut down the drive forcing a 50 yard FG and instilled real FEAR in Noah's mind causing the shank.....I'm thinking Noah Ruggles knew he was about to be hit harder than ole Marv was.......Ya know, that's what all of this Big10 whine fest is all about....FEAR OF THE DAWGS!
This referee should be fired! The rule is clear and ANYONE that says it was targeting or a personal foul is an imbecile.
Ohio State has been crying about that one play for a while now. It is time to move on from it. What they should be crying about is the kicker missing the field goal in a clutch situation, to include some bad offensive calls before that even happen. Cry about that Mr. Day and the backyard Big Ten Coordinator Officals.
tired of these weenies! It was a CLEAN hit. If you don't like it, then don't play football. Stop being BABIES! Good effing grief!
So he basically admits it wasn’t targeting but was still a really mean hit and should be a personal foul. I guess he would invoke the “meanie really hard hit” penalty. Geez.
Can we start the season already...whew...what a bunch of whiners.
Please take a look at all the egregious holding calls that were not called on OSU. You think that game is close if they start calling those?
BTW we too were missing some pretty special players (Our 6'8" TE and our stud LB Nolan) as well. Injuries are part of the game.
Suck it up Buttercups! I mean Bucknuts...
What no one is saying is the entire hit is on CJ Stroud.
It's his fault when he airs out a hail mary type of throw to his best receiver. What does he think will happen?
As per replay, the Georgia player does what he's supposed to do, which is actually quite amazing. If Stroud doesn't do this throw they probably go on to win. He should have just thrown it away. The loss is on Stroud.
I am developing a lot of disrespect for Michigan, Ohio State, and the “Big” Ten conference in general.. Sore losers and arrogant whiners all… they are giving Kirby Smart bulletin boards full of motivational material while they virtue signal with “UGA periods.” What a joke…
“It was a dangerous play?” - WTBleep? Football is a dangerous sport! This isn’t flag football. This guy should be taken off any officiating capacity. Rules is rules! “But it was a hard hit!” - seriously?
Good grief
#1 - Not targeting, it was reviewed. Heck, even the announcers and "rules expert" said it wasn't targeting. Bullard did just want you want, led with the shoulder and made a good hit. Was it a hard hit, yes. It's football. If you take hard, physical hits out of football, then we should just play flag football and I wonder what would happen to all that college football revenue? I think I would be cancelling my season tickets and watch pro football, fall baseball, and yes, more golf......even soccer. @SmartsTheMan @rconlan
#2 - OMG. I like rewatching this game and there were many (conservatively) holdings by OSU that did NOT get called. EX: Watch the replay and Carter gets taken to the ground on a hold during the play that Stroud scrambles on for a big gain late in the game. Critical play. The OL for OSU grabs him on the inside of his jersey and drags him to the ground as he is falling, because he can't block him. Any ref worth their weight would have flagged this play. Carter even throws up his arms as he is being dragged down to get the refs attention. @ScoreCheck
#3 - good point @Spdawg . I've also watched this replay many times and it's hard to find one that clearly shows his foot going our of bounds, but it did. There are some clips out there. Most replays start AFTER that happened. Hmmmm.
Remember the 2018 National Championship game against ALA? The blocked punt UGA got robbed on because of a terrible off-sides call that wasn't ? That was an infraction that never happened and "probably" cost us the game. Tua never gets the chance to win the game if the block stands. I've been over it for a long time, and yet, OSU can't get over this? Whiners for sure and it's getting to the point of being comical. This targeting BS is so different from the blocked punt, reviewed and confirmed, and still, it's coming up, over and over. Make no doubt, OSU is doing this in the hopes of influencing future calls, if the occasion arrises. OSU reminds me of UF, thinking they are entitled, but then OSU doesn't have to play UGA every season. #bestneverrests - GO DAWGS
Ohio State wants to boohoo about 1 play, if we hadn't missed 2 field goals, this wouldn't exist, all missed penalties aside. Besides, wonder what they would be saying if they had been UGA in 2017 NC? A LOT more than 1 missed/erroneous penalty.
