Beware Of A New Virus

Last week I tested negative twice for Covid, but this so-called "stomach virus" walks like Covid, talks like Covid and has almost all of the same symptoms as Covid - oh and it's a straight-up BEAST. 9 straight days of fever, chills, body aches, extreme fatigue, headaches and diarrhea to name some of the symptoms. Tomorrow I'm going to my primary care physician and I'll attempt to get the straight skinny on this thing. Personally, I think it's a mutation of Covid and they don't have a test for it yet.

You don't want this, trust me. Be careful out there!

I've been sick for about 4 days. Don't know what it is, but it is very similar to when I had Covid. Mild symptoms. But I've been in England for two week for work and don't come home till Saturday. No way I'm getting tested and possibly having to quarantine here. Screw that.

I'm sure you've heard this a million times, but it's worth repeating - drink plenty of fluids, including Pedialyte.

I was just told by a fellow Atlantan that there's a summer C-19 virus going around, however it is detectable by current test kits. What's puzzling to me is cases like yours and mine that are very similar to C-19, but are not showing up in test kits. I'm wondering if it's mutated again and I have a new version that hasn't been identified yet. Who knows? The good news is I'm turning the corner on this thing.

I'm about 90% back to normal right now. Nose still a little stuffy. I get a little of the "crud" every time I come here. I come to England every year for work for 2-3 weeks (not nearly as cool as it sounds, England pretty much sucks...). When I was here in 2021, I had to take a Covid test before leaving, another within 3 days after arriving, and another before leaving. I was a little worried about the the departure test because I felt like c.rap the whole time.

I had something similar. Viruses happen all the time and some hit some worse than others. Last summer I had a terrible stomach virus - was the sickest I have ever been. Fever, pains, and terrible diarrhea. I couldnt leave the bed/bathroom for almost five full days. I would have gone to the ER on day three if I could have mustered the strength, but I couldnt - but that was just the beginning of it. I couldnt eat anything but white rice or toast for over 3 weeks without getting sick again. I messaged my doctor during the second week of not getting any better and he pretty much told me it was just a stomach bug so to **** it up, stay hydrated, and eventually it would go away. He kind of pissed me off, because I didnt think a stomach virus could/should last so long, but thankfully, he was right and eventually I could eat real food again. No one in my family got ever sick at all, thank God.

Being sick sucks, but it happens, and we need to remember that every virus is not a pandemic.

Personally, I wouldnt give any more of my money to the companies making money on Covid tests. If its Covid, you dont have much to worry about at this point. If you are sick, it doesnt matter what it is, you should use conventual wisdom and stay away from immuno-compromised people, and probably try and avoid the healthy ones as much as reasonable too.

I hope you get to feeling better soon! Hopefully/probably its just a virus. Stay hydrated and try to stick with the BRAT diet until your body bounces back and you are feeling back to your normal self.

Man, I'm sorry to hear that. Sounds miserable and I hope you recover soon. On a lighter note, in regards to your fever, I hear more cowbell helps.

My Mother was sick then got me sick a few months ago. (It was covid) lasted like a week but what’s funny is when I showed up dying to my doctor on day 3 he said, “We don’t test anymore. We just treat the symptoms and want you getting better.”

I would have cracked up laughing had I not been shivering out of control all the while sweating my behind off.

He’s right. I was sick…these are my symptoms…let’s do something about that!!
