Yeah, never been on Twitter, so couldn't submit my "bad for the sport" response.

I've been racking my brain, and can't think of a more egregious, out-in-the-open cash grab at the expense of something that so many people care about having occurred in my lifetime. Sure, we'll all adjust because we have no choice. But that doesn't mean this was ever some inevitable evolution of the sport. It's more like, this is what happens when a small number of people get enough money and power that it overrides any concept of intrinsic value in anything other than money and power.

Hopefully, Sankey keeps the SEC at 16 teams. We don't need any more. None of the ACC teams will help our conference. SO, now you're left with (4) Conferences - SEC, ACC, B1G, and BIG12. I agree with Mike that the remaining Pac12 schools will end up in the Mountain West. That certainly makes the most sense, but I didn't see this kind of change coming so quickly...so who knows??

What makes me laugh is all the talk since the inception of the CFP about the "sanctity" of the major bowl games like the Rose, Cotton, and Sugar. Well, all this shakeup certainly renders those great bowl traditions worth nothing now. Just let them be the playoff games and be done with it. In fact, the entire bowl system should be mostly scrapped or completely revamped.

Sad to see Oregon State, Washington, State, Cal and Stanford left out to dry like that.

Apple Cup was great as was the Cal and Stanford matchups. Stanford used to be pretty good at football and their were many classic matchups with other Pac10 schools. The west coast was already trending towards European style soccer in my opinion and this will accelerate that I think.

Bad, bad, bad for the sport. I blame most of this on ESPN worldwide leader in screwing stuff up. I hate it that ESPN has so much power in sports and hope that changes soon.

The Rose Bowl is an epic bowl and the best bowl, even better than the Orange or Sugar. Hopefully some semblance of those 3 they keep. The rest of the bowls such as the Peach are nothing like the Rose.

Times change and I probably sound like an old curmudgeon but not all changes are good.

I guess I will be watching a lot more Mountain West games now.

The NCAA should have stopped all of this, but they have little to no power. Espn is ruining college football with massive payouts that are also ruining its own company and reputation. That’s evident because they let David Pollack go but kept a lot of clowns that should have left before he did. Go Dawgs!!

    David is that you?

Well David, David was the best analyst they had. Now they have 2 B1G guys and an ex-Indiana coach (B1G) also along with an Alabama grad doing GameDay. David, went out of his way for a long time to never show any bias. I think he overdid it sometimes. He just stated the obvious to CNS.

Regardless, they definitely lost a good one. It would be wonderful if we could get SEC guys to do the SEC games and send the B1G guys to Fox? Hello ESPN we don't want OSU and Michigan guys doing SEC games.

Interesting the number 1 overall athletic program (Stanford) has been left out in the cold. I think they have won the award for at least 15 of the past 20 years if not more than that. Also, outside of the Ivy League they are probably the highest ranked academic institution of any member of the BIG, SEC, ACC, etc. I wonder if Stanford doesn’t want to be part of this insane race to realign conferences. Stay tuned and Go Dawgs!!!

The Rose, Sugar, etc were already messed up by the expanded payoff....ER, playoff. None of them were guaranteed traditional matchups as all are going to be playoff sites.

In re: to ACC, Virginia, UNC, Duke, Clemson, FSU, Miami bring value beyond football in the other 3 (4?) major sports (MBB, WBB, Baseball, Softball).

Probably means no more West Coast night games, kicking off at midnight, eastern time. Awww.

Lol...all of those Teams and Bowls are gonna continue to exist. UCLA and USC will remain in Los Angeles and the Rose Bowl is still gonna be in Pasadena. IMO...the only thing that's going to change, is the flag they carry. I don't care if they hail from the PAC-12...or the BIG12...or, the BIG10...they're still USC and UCLA.

I just want to know..."What's gonna happen to the PAC12 Network. Do I get a partial refund on my "Sports Package"?...and, "Where does that leave Notre Dame and the other schools?". A new Conference, maybe? Lol

Also, how will this effect the selection of the Top-4 Teams, in the 12-Team Playoff.
