Stetson Bennett exciting as ever in NFL debut with Los Angeles Rams
Stetson Bennett’s NFL career picked up where his collegiate career ended on Saturday night, and in much the same fashion.

Bennett may turn out to be the biggest steal of the draft.
@DawgTattoo, you may be right and I'm still stunned that the Colts thought Anthony Richardson is a better QB coming out of College than Stetson. For a NFL QB, history tells us that supreme athleticism is vastly overrated and time will tell if Stetson or Richardson is the better QB.
Bennett be ballin'!!! I'm a believer!
"the Colts thought Anthony Richardson is a better QB prospect coming out of College". There I fixed it for you.
SBIV played 6 CFB seasons and made over 40 CFB starts. AR15 made 13(?) CFB starts. To compare them today and where they are in their development is ridiculous. AR15 is 21 yrs and 3 mo old SBIV is 25 yrs and 10 mo. Wouldn't a more apt comparison be SBIV now and AR15 in 4.5 yrs?
"the Colts thought Anthony Richardson is a better QB prospect coming out of College".
THey certainly did! 5000% better evidently. Stetson Bennet 700k gauaranteed - AR15 34 million guaranteed. Quite the risk for a totally unproven, inexperienced player. He's a superfreak athlete attempting to be a QB. Maybe in some years from now, according to your own words, he can develop and provide a ROI for the Colts. Question is will he ever live up to his 1st round billing and will he be provided the time and the patience through the growing pains he will surely have to develop, if time is all he needs?
But for me, given SB's accomplishments, if I had Monopoly Money, I'd double down on SB. But that's just me. Feel free to disagree. Everybody do you.
Apparently, the Colts thought AR15's ceiling was worth the investment. The differences in the ceilings is what tempted the Colts to make the pick. NOW he will be getting the very best of daily, focused coaching and preparation to aid and expedite his development. With all the experience and development SBIV has already had he is perceived at being at or near his ceiling. He is certainly at his ceiling size wise.
I watched most of the LA/LA game last night. SBIV looked good. He had a couple really nice throws. And a couple that he called "bonehead plays".
The NFL money is inconsequential. Each team has a salary cap they have to spend and the league revenues are split about 50/50 with the players. The NFL is a risk/reward business.
AR15 looks very similar to Cam Newton. AR15 has a better arm and looks to be a better passer than Newton at the same age. You think the Colts will be happy if AR15 has a similar career to Newton? BTW I always thought that Newton was not very smart for running as much as he did. Even if you are Superman size the NFL will beat you down. They beat down Newton and shortened his career. Initially, SBIV won't play as much as Newton did and certainly won't run as much as Newton but it will be interesting to watch what impact NFL hits have on a smaller player. SBIV could be out of the league by the time AR15 is just hitting his stride. AR15's physical gifts create a higher ceiling and afford him the benefits associated.
Bottom line. Neither AR15 nor SBIV looked like a starting NFL QB in Game 1. AR15 has a lot of time to improve. Now that he will be coached and developed we will see how good he can be.
I'll say this, Stetson Bennett had the best weekend of any of his class qb's. Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, Anthony Richardson, Max Dungan. Yes, the rest are younger, but they all played a lot in college. SB, after a nervous start, really got through progressions and showed a little bit of grasp of the system. None of the others did. I know people on here want to point to his age, and I'm sure that's a part of it, but really it highlights another area of the game that's super important at the NFL - Brains. At the NFL level, everything is more complex. Way more complex. SB has the Benefit of playing in an NFL system and he's smart. The others, not so much. Worse, the spread system is a one read system - Ohio State, FLorida, Alabama, TCU, all spread systems. If you aren't that smart, and you've never had a complex read system, there is a greater likelihood that you will never make it in the NFL. Stetson is smart, fast, pretty accurate, with size 10 hands. He has a shot - it showed.
What would happen if you compared Stet 4.5 years ago to AR at the same age. I think you would still see Stet with more to show than AR albeit Stet in JC.
I would call it football IQ combined with a vinegar pissed off attitude of someone who hates to lose. Stetson just hates to lose.
