ATHENS — You’d be forgiven if CJ Smith wasn’t on your radar entering the 2023 season. He didn’t record a catch as a freshman, due to largely battling injury his first season on campus.

    Oh Yes and Yes !! Another big time weapon !! Also Mews Another big time weapon !! And speaking on Arian S. imho he got grossly mistreated by the officials vs UTM, there were at least Two PI calls that Weren’t called !! Both robbed Arian of huge gains.

    And add Cash on this list to. Dillon Bell, Dawgs are loaded with weapons, and I Believe we’re gonna see those weapons explode more and more each game played !! Go Dawgs !!

    If the QBs get the ball to these burners in the proper position where they can catch it and go, there’s going to be a lot of breakaways to the house.

    #'s 84, 1, 11, 86, 6, 5, 23 all seemed on the radar. 18? Not so much. 18 definitely needs more touches to see what he is. Give them to him this week and rest 84 another week. Disappointed in the showing of #11 on saturday. Starting to look like he is a 1 trick pony (fly pattern). A sprinter trying to play wr.

    In fairness to Arian though there were two specific plays ( possibly three) where the defender was all over him like a cheap suit and the officials just absolutely refused to call PI. Both were early in the game so it was like the zebras were trying to give UTM a little help. There was a third one in the end zone that Could have been a PI but maybe not as clearly so can’t rant as much on it. But still your right in that Arian needs to make the catch uncontested, that is Clearly a catch, then it won’t be necessary to worry over no call for PI. I get what your saying. But hopefully we’ll see him improve. Let’s hope Rosemy-JackSaint comes out determined to redeem himself for his off field stuff !!

    THIS. The holding was atrocious. They did call the one on BB though.

    I watched quite a few games over the TH-M "weekend". DB's were not getting called for a lot of physical play. Well beyond what has been traditionally called PI. I found it surprising. IF that is how ref's call it this year it doesn't bode well for 11. He is not a physical wr. He also seemed more interested in complaining to the ref's than fighting for the ball. Beck missed him wide open in the back of the endzone and over threw him on an early long pass. But overall if he consistently gets outmuscled by DB's he may only be effective as a deep ball specialist.

    @UGADad20

    I wondered the same thing about Smith. I was impressed with the Forida St transfer form Michigan St. Looks like they robbed the bank on that guy. HArd to underestimate his size and physicality, He was covered like a blanket on a couple of throws by Major Burns(who will play at the next level) and the QB put it on the money and he's just such a physical mismatch for any DB.
