Jalen Carter’s NFL star rising, even as ESPN reveals he punched 1st-round teammate in face
ATHENS -- Jalen Carter has NFL types looking back and wondering how he fell to No. 9 in the draft, even beyond his well-documented driving-related issues leading up to the NFL Combine.

Coaches to DTs and DEs ( and LBs) we want you to go out there and tear the QBs head off. But be nice about it and be sure to apologize afterward !! 🙄
Totally unnecessary reporting in my opinion. Stoking negativity fire. It no 2023!
To me, the punch is a non issue. Football is an aggressive game and tempers flare and punches fly. The thing that would have concerned me, if true, would be that his coaches failed to go to bat for him.
Key words..."If true". You can't tell for sure, with today's media.
"even beyond his well-documented driving-related issues leading up to the NFL Combine."______@MikeGriffith
Lmao...one of the most ridiculous statements made by the Sporting World...in the 21st Century. IMO
I remember when the negative stories, were inspired by actual "failures" within the Program or unlawful violations by a "player", that had to do with_____[steroids, DUI, Drugs, selling memorabilia, selling autographs...things of that nature].
The AJC has decided that :Traffic Violations, now rise to tha level...and, "they must be reported". Cause, they don't have anything else to attack the Dawgs with. Lol...they're making themselves look foolish as hell. IMO
My family knew a guy who was a star OL with the Washington Huskies. He was drafted I think in the 3rd round. Anyways, he goes to training camp and one of the older veterans thinks he is going to pick on him. One thing led to another and he got into a fight with the guy in the locker room. They both traded punches. The family friend supposedly per story knocked the other guy silly. The other guy got cut from the team.
This was way back in the 80s. Locker room and on field practice fights happen from time to time.
It's called football. A violent and aggressive sport not meant for choir boys.
That's a fact. I've been in a few...and, broke up a few, myself. Hell...it was even encouraged. Practice would stop, while we..."worked things out". Then, we'd be hanging out after practice, joking about it. We tried not to let that happen, very often...cause, it would extend practice and add to our wind sprint total. Lmao
I have a hard time believing that a professional Team...that fills their roster with all kinds of mean characters like Conrad Dobler, John Matuzak and Lyle Alzado...would pass on a football player like Carter...."cause he's too mean". Lol.
And, if his practice habits were "that Bad"....he would not be "that Good". So...none of it makes ANY sense to me. We might read about it in somebody's "tell-all book" one day. But, the way it's laid out, right now....I don't see the problem.
I get that Carter was "involved" in a tragedy that took a teammate's life. But, it was an accident...not a shooting or beat down. He didn't hold a gun to anybody's head and make them hit the accelerator, and "race". Everybody involved shares blame on that one....why is Carter the "Standard Barer" for that whole racing scenario. That...I don't get.
He's just a regular Joe who happens to excel in a violent game. We want them to be great indivduals, first class citizens. WHy? Some are, some aren't. JUst like the general population.
Carter...is a Great Football Player. End of story. I bet there are a few teams that have some regrets, today. One of em being, the team that decided it would be a good idea, to draft "Anthony Richardson" in the 1st round. Lol...where do they get these GM's today?
FYI...I think the Falcons wound up, sitting pretty with Bijan Robinson. He's gonna be "special".
For most of the GMs owning a football team is like a 3rd wife but a lot more profitable. They just want to take it out for a spin every now and then and show it off to friends but if they have to cut bait they will.
Come on guys…I highly doubt that several UGA coaches refused to endorse Jalen bc of that one punch.
I have a feeling, if that was true...if the coaches didn't back his play...he would've fallen out of the 1st round. Just like Dean, in the '22 Draft.
Somebody...said something...to somebody. Maybe it was Philly trying to get Him to drop to their pick. Or, whatever. But, I have a "real hard time" believing "the coaches left him hanging". I love The Eagles GM, though. I like the way he thinks.
In all fairness...when that story popped...I wondered why there wasn't a stronger effort to dispute it, from the coaching staff. But, after giving it some thought...I'm sure they probably figured disputing a BS story, in the media that created it, would only lend it traction.
The people to talk to about it, are the GM's of the first 10 teams, in the Draft...or, the GM's interested in Him.
Either, that...or, the Coaching Staff colluded with the Eagles front office to place him and Smith in Philly, with Davis & Dean. Lol...it worked out beautifully for Carter and Philly, IMO.
why is the AJC still dragging this guy? You're highlighting a practice fight? Who cares?
