The surprising Georgia defensive stat that makes Zion Logue ‘sick’
ATHENS — When Georgia defensive lineman Zion Logue told reporters that Georgia was fifth in rushing defense, most assumed he meant in the country.

Well Zion. you can fix the defensive woes this weekend and beyond....after all it is up to you, Mykel, Stackhouse and the others isn't it?
I'm not faulting Zion or any of the guys as long as they are playing their best. That being said talent is king and we need those young pups to step up (52, 44, 55). Hopefully by mid season we look better.
Well Zion,Mykel, Naz, Tramel, Warren, Jonathan, and Tyrion, as upper classmen there is no better time than Saturday 09/23?23, the first day of FALL, to take the HUGE step out of the shadows of the DL GREATS of the previous two years! Frankly, at times in practice yall look even better than those NFL guys!
In 2 of the first 3 games the leading rusher for the opposing team has been the QB and most of those yards came as a result of scrambling. We will get a better idea of the rushing defense as we get into the SEC schedule.
I wonder how many snaps they are getting compared to last year. I have a sneaking suspicion that we are short of bodies on the second level after starter, which means we are playing more freshmen. Losing Bear Alexander and Washington is having a affect. The Freshman are coming along, but we need more. Hopefully, recruiting will help that, but not this year.
I think we will be OK in the run defense. Maybe not as good as the last two years but I don't believe we will have to be in order to win it all. I'll take being really good at stopping the run while maybe not being generational. Getting to the passer is another thing.
I stated yesteday that teams are getting the ball out of the QB's hand quicker than ever, it's a growing trend. Hard to get sacks when the QB is only taking 2 seconds to get rid of it. THey will take more underneath stuff. Sort of like what we're doing too. It helps to have a QB who can dance around a little and give his receivers time to get down field.
It might be time for Jordan Davis to come down and tell the team how he got embarrassed by Alabama for being out of shape in the. SEC Championship game os 2021. He and his teammates decided to work a lot harder to prepare for the CFP games. It paid off and Jordan dominated Alabama in the championship game. This year's team must dedicate itself in a similar manner if they want to win a championship--a historical championship btw, for their teammates, coaches, families and fans.
Just my opinion...but, Williams, Logue and Stackhouse, weren't calling the defensive plays. That distinction goes to Smart, Schumann and Muschamp.
They weren't dialing up any of their usual exotic blitz/coverage packages. They've been running, mostly out of their base defense against the 1st two opponents...then started mixing it up, in the second half of the Carolina game.
We'll probably get a pretty good 1st half, this week...before the Auburn game. I believe Kirby has seen and done enough on the "teaching & challenging" front. It's time to get dialed in for the season.
I expect to see the 1st Team Offense and Defense...[and Coaches]...turn it up in the first half, this week. The second half will probably be for alternate personnel packages and backup QB(s).
I also, think Kirby might want to see both of his kickers knock down a couple of kicks, each, before heading into the meat of their schedule.
Only 9 more days, till UGA plays a "real game". 😁😎...skit em Dawgs.
We have a long ways to go to even think about this. One game at a time one play at a time. Get better. Get better.
