Georgia football still searching for solutions to fix red zone defensive issues
ATHENS — Kirby Smart knows it is a problem. He’s also not doing anything different to really fix the issue either.

I hope these kids are mentally prepared.
Georgia would do well to hold Mizzou to field goals if they do make it to the Red Zone. Their kicker is other-worldly, so if they get close, they're probably going to get points. But if we can limit them to three and we can, in turn, score 7, we should be OK. I hope. I really don't know. As I 've said in other posts, Missouri really scares me, especially Burden. I'm wary of teams who play with confidence and have something prove. Go Dawgs!
"This issue would be much bigger if teams were finding themselves in Georgia’s red zone more often. Georgia has seen only 17 drives reach the red zone this season, which is tied for sixth in the country.".......BINGO, problem solved....DON'T allow teams to get close to our RED ZONE...that's VERY doable, currently the average is 2 times per game with most Red Zone incursions taking place in the 4th when we have "Development" time for our 3's and 4's. When you consider the yearly loses to the NFL from our D-Line, you must realize there is a learning/experience curve to reach previous accomplishments.....and I see definite improvement in every game.....To DallasDawg's comments, last year we held Mizzou to 4FG's and just 1 TD.....I think all will agree that our D was a bit more potent in 22 and our O was not as potent as this years! Last year, The Dawgs scored 4 FG's and 2 TD's....THANK YOU Kendall and Daijun.....we need to flip the script Saturday with more than 4 TD's and 2FG's.....so the GtheGreek game plan is to keepem out of our Red Zone so they'll kick 3's and score TD's through the air and pounding the rock down their throats!
The more the talk is that Missouri is taking us down, the more the players will be ready.
Same pre-talk as FL. I believe the result will be close to the same result as FL. I see less space between score finals but UGA will emerge victorious. Kirby is fixated on the Red Zone....UGA will be prepared. UGA players know what is on the line..the SEC East. This will be an intense battle..hopefully...not too many serious injuries?!
I’m more concerned with the Dawgs red zone offense. Too May field goals!!
"Missouri ranks first in the country red zone scoring rate at 97 percent. The Tigers do only rank 30th in touchdown rate as they score touchdowns on 67 percent of their red zone drives."_____DN
And, there you have the reason, that Kirby and Will haven't pulled out the defensive stops in the Red Zone....or, anywhere else, all year. They've been saving those wrinkles for this 3 game stretch...against the teams with an "explosive offense". Lol
I don't think we have anything to worry about. I'm looking forward to the twists and stunts and blitzes from "any and every" direction....IF...and, only "if" they have to resort to the good stuff. If they can save it till the CFP...that's okay, too.
Go Big Red "G"!!!
The thing about these next 3 games, is that, they will all,...more likely than "not"...be "High-Profile", Nationally televised games. Hyped to the 9's.
Meaning...those games will be a recruiting platform for Kirby Smart to market his Program. So...I expect him, to want to put, only, his "best foot" forward, at this point in the season.
3 Dominant UGA performances would put a good taste in the mouth of prospective Bullpups...and, "the fear of God", in everybody else. Psychological warfare, dontcha know. Lol
Gotta believe!! This winning streak has most of us believing anything is possible. But I beg of y’all not to have Bobo on the first train out of Athens when that next L falls.
one game at a time!!
We all know Carson Beck will be; he was born mentally prepared. His composure and coolness under fire might actually inspire the defense.
I would like to see the Dawgs take the ball first on offense if they win the toss. The offense seems to have a better chance of scoring on the first drive than the defense has of stopping the opponent from scoring on the first drive. The defense is looking better each game and really good in the second half, but they've given up a few touchdowns on the opening drives. I think an early lead and a fast start would give them a tremendous advantage along with playing in Sanford Stadium. It may even be a bigger advantage than getting the ball first to start the second half.
GO DAWGS!
