Georgia has made another addition to its roster via the transfer portal, this time landing UNLV quarterback Jayden Maiava.

I just dont see why we need him. I hope this doesn't prompt any of our current QBs to leave.
I really don't understand the need for this transfer. I am sure Kirby has a plan, but I would rather this scholarship go to another position than needs it more like on defense
Funny ,he was a 3 start before he commited to UGA. Then, miraculously he became a 4 star. :)😂

When you are chasing championships experienced depth is a plus. Experienced depth may be the difference between winning an SECCG and losing by 3 points. Ask Trezmen Marshall..
This QB is coming as QB2 competition in '24 and QB1 competition in '25. Should CBeck get hurt in '24 the UGA season has 2 chances to be salvaged instead of 1.
The UGA roster is full. By taking all of the '24 transfers now , UGA may be missing out on higher ranked TP players in the spring TP window. UGA still needs about 7 (?) more players to hit the TP before the '24 summer recruits report.
Kirby said the hard number for the QB room is 4, now that's settled. I expect some more players to hit the portal during the spring. It shouldn't be too many though. I would love for UGA to pick up a couple top notch players for the DL.
Portal in and portal out at some juncture....! Cannot see the three remaining QBs intact over three seasons. This kid , though lanky at 6' 5", just does not impress me as a hurry-up need ? His stats are pretty good...good use of his feet ...over 270 yards. I am not a coach..up to Kirby. Maybe he is more than we can see now. Depth, sure. Hurry-up depth...not so sure. Just my opinion.
Yeah, I don't get it. Means fewer reps for Stockton and Puglisi, who apparently need them more than we may know. Go Dawgs!
I don't get why people are thinking this would chase off Stockton or Puglisi. There's no way he comes in higher on the depth chart than Stockton, and Puglisi spent how many months expecting to be classmates with Raiola? As for why Smart would do it, the answer is as simple as it gets: adding depth to the most important position on the field.
So should the staff not have been pursuing either Puglisi or Raiola all along?
The plan was always to have Beck, Stockton, Puglisi and Raiola. And everyone was great with that. But now that it's Beck, Stockton, Puglisi and Maiava, people are reacting like having 4 quarterbacks is a fundamentally bad idea. I just don't get it.
First, I think Coach knows what he is doing. Second, FSU was on their 3rd string QB against the Gators as well as the Orange Bowl & Ohio State won the initial CFP in 2014 with their 3rd string QB. Finally, If the quality is there, I would expect Coach to make some additional roster moves on the defensive side of the ball after G-Day.

Good view on the subject. DAWGS have had 4 QB's on the roster as long as I can remember. Beck, Vandagriff, Stockton, Muschamp (maybe not as talented as the others but still a decent QB) this past season. Bennett, Beck, Vandagriff, Stockton the year before.. and it keeps going. If 1 of the 4 current QB's were to transfer, there will be another talented QB step in to take their place, so I'm not worried. I wasn't worried when Raiola flipped, and not worried now. It's not uncommon at most power 5 schools to have 4 QB's on the roster. I also agree with the comment by Betheredge on the matter. You don't need to get in a situation where you're down to a 3rd string QB during the season, and expect miracles from said QB. Especially if QB3 has no experience. DAWGS will have 3 QB's with game experience, and a very talented Freshman in the mix also. Kirby is the Head Coach for a reason, and I'm just a fan, so in Kirby I trust..GoDAWGS!
OK I will state very clearly that I’m a Gunner Stockton fan. Of Course Always a Dawgs fan first. After Beck I’m really cheering for Gunner to be the #2 guy then The Man in 2025. BUT as I said I’m a Dawgs Team fan first. I want the very best players we have on the field as starters.
I don’t think Gunner has any fear of competition at all. Puglisi strikes me as being the same. So Beck is pretty much barring an utter and complete collapse which I very much doubt we’ll see, The Man this year. But now it looks like the #2 guy might be hotly contested. That’s Good, it should refine and make them Both better.
Unless Puglisi is just Super past his Experience level he’ll probably be the #3 guy as expected. Keeping in mind I’m a big Gunner Stockton fan, I Still think this is a good move, Because (God Forbid) it’s not unheard of for TWO QBs to get hurt. If that were to happen we’d have the very talented but very inexperienced Puglisi to fall back to had Kirby Not got this scholarship QB.
That’s Why Kirby makes the big $$$ and he knows Far more than I do. Had it been Me I’d have stuck with the three scholarship QBs, Beck, Stockton, Puglisi, and made the preferred walk-on C. Ginn my fourth guy. But that’s why I’m a recliner coach !! 😀 Let the competition begin !!

The ONLY sound reason I can come up with is COMPETITION....Hope Maiava is a quick study cause right now Gunner, Muschamp and Drake have a year or more on him and Pugs has a couple of weeks....Pugs HS resume is more impressive than Maiava's Mt West work....but hey, Kirby knows more than I will ever know so in Kirby we will trust!
