ATHENS — Georgia tight end Pearce Spurlin will be medically retiring from the game of football, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart told reporters on Tuesday.

Good call, Mr. Spurlin… Health = Wealth. Now channel your obvious skills and passion into something related to, or completely different from sports. In any case, thanks for your loyalty to Georgia... wishing you all the best. Go Dawgs!
Best wishes to him. Sad we couldn’t have seen what he could have become, but he is 100% right in not taking any chances with a heart condition. I assume Kirby had some knowledge or conversations with Spurlin and this is why he dipped into the portal.
Not one word as to why?.
Best wishes to Pearce and the Spurlin family. Thrilled to hear he'll stay a part of the program and not lose his scholarship. Class act there Georgia!
Thanks for giving a reason not included in the article.
I also missed the reason for him leaving, but saw in Pearce’s statement that he had a heart condition. Wish him the best and sincerely appreciate his contributions to our team. Go Dawgs and good luck Pearce!!!
Pearce has all the makings of a DGD......he may no longer be able to distinguish himself on the field but I have no doubt he will do it on the side lines as a motivator and supporter of Georgia Football! GOD'S speed Pearce in all that you do, HE will give you direction!
Heart condition
Hate to see this happen to anyone, but you have to put your health before football as this young man has. Best of luck in your future, you will always be a DAWG..GoDAWGS!
