What's up with oblique strains?

Does anyone else think that there are a lot of oblique strains happening lately? The Bravos' Smith-Shawver suffered one last night and may be out for 2 months? Sean Murphy has yet to play since he strained his in the first week of the season. Max Fried had some issues last year.

Any docs or PTs out there care to comment on why this might be happening? Is it something about the way players train these days? too much of some type of training and/or not enough of another type? Just curious.
