No one is above the program or University standards. CKS needs to be competitive, while we don't know the details of this particular case Smart has to set a standard of behavior at UGA regardless of your status as a player.

Kick his ass off the team TODAY !!!!! Enough of this.

Way too many arrests happening at UGA. I saw on another team's site (non SEC) that UGA stands for "University of Getting Arrested". This is a terrible reflection of the university, the football program and the coaching staff. It is embarrassing.

It will effect recruiting. Any parent that cares where their children go to school, who they will be around, will there be rules and who will coach them is having 2nd thoughts about UGA. You thought UGA had a chance with David Sanders and his close knit family? Not anymore.

How to fix it? Don't recruit questionable character. Period. UGA pulled Zach Evans offer. Should've dismissed Thomas last year.

I probably will get some negatives here, but for some time I have worried whether this team had a core sense of team to align with the unquestionable physical talent. Without effective internal leaders and followers, this may well not be a championship caliber team. I hope they prove me wrong.

I absolutely agree with the calls to have him kicked off the team immediately. I hope that decision is announced before the weekend is over.

I also hope that the Georgia community finds a way to help his family, especially those poor children. These are going to be very difficult days, and years, ahead of them.

I may be of a different mind-set but AA children are a piece of work. Nowadays- you can't even whip your kids anymore which is why they are so doggone bad. Trust, I recognize that Black/Whites rear their kids differently, but I know a many parents who wouldn't let their kids run over them that were accused of child abuse and cruelty in order to bring respect and order in the home.

I remember when Adrian Peterson was locked up for spanking his kids. Back in my day, my father would beat your a$$ and dare you to say something and I turned out okay. Nowadays kids run all over their parents. And standing in a corner or taking a phone away is not the answer.

That said - it may be time to cut ties with RaRa.

Brave of you to say here. I agree. No question now that leadership is lacking in the program. Both from a player and coach/mentoring standpoint. In addition, UGA needs to evaluate character of recruits and what level of risk the program is willing to take on players. UGA has become the standard for bad off the field player actions.

Probably to be expected as CFB has turned to an NIL grab and "I'm gonna get mine" mentality. "Team" was bound to suffer.

Obviously this does not look good for Rara or the team, but let the facts come out before we play judge, jury and executioner. I just know it takes two to tango and there are three sides to every story. We don't know half the story. This is not to say that he doesn't need to be sent packing, but sometimes people get provoked into doing things they regret. Rara has already been in trouble before for a similar situation and likely with 2 strikes, he will be out.

I doubt this is money related. THis is about upbringing and and how someone is taught to react to stress and or anger, and what the boundaries are or unfortunately sometimes are not. Eveyone gets mad from time to time but what's inside of you, (didn't get there yesterday) comes out under pressure, or when you feel like someone dissed you. It's the road rage, the domestic violence, drive by shootings, verbal atercations that escalate.. etc.etc.. Hard for a football coach to untrain years of bad upbringing or the failures of the parents. Should you do your due diligence in recruiting? Of course! Ibelieve SKS does. You try to weed these out, unfortunately its' not always possible. Mental diseases, such as Schizophrenia often don't fully present until the early 20's. Not saying that's whats going on in RaRA'a case. JUst that the acting out sometimes is after years of formulation. THis young man needs some serious help. Money didn't create the problem and just having it won't fix it either.

Listening to Randy Michmichael today on sports radio he said that he had reached out to former players and people within the program and they all agree he has to go. Sad.

Holy cow. IF true, RaRa should no longer be on the team. Period. Gone, DONE. Get him outta here.

Too much misbehaving on this team right now, and it makes Kirby and the football program look shoddy to say the least.

  • UGADad20UGADad20 Posts: 1,970 ✭✭✭✭✭ Graduate

Your reasoning is why Thomas is technically still on the team. Once all the I's are dotted and T's crossed, and CKS has a chance find a landing spot for one of his former players, Thomas will be gone.

This is not a leadership issue. This is a personal issue with one player. You might say all those minor offense traffic arrests and the street racing are from a lack of leadership among the players, but serious stuff like child abuse is something entirely different. I've had Marines in my command do worse stuff. It wasn't from a lack of leadership. Some people just have bad intentions inside them. Some people just can't control their urges. Some people struggle with cutting personal ties with other bad people. Some people just don't "get it". No amount of leadership will keep someone like this out of trouble for very long.
