Wilson without a doubt. He is the lead communicator for the O-line. I don't disagree with Mike that Beck's blind side has to be protected but that's a given. Personally, if the O-line plays as well as predicted then they will win the Joe Moore Award, and Beck can sit back and throw from a clean pocket. If we have injuries that linger to key guys like Wilson or Ratledge or guys don't perform then Beck, in turn, may struggle. We all know Carson usually doesn't do as well when he has to pass under duress or on the move. But it's not just the O-line protecting Beck. It's also the O-line opening up holes and establishing the running game early on. I know I'm stating the obvious, but I do think that the running game is going to be just as important - if not more important - than our passing game.
IMO, it's difficult to argue with the idea that the LT is the most important offensive lineman, because he protects the QB's blindside.
That said, I'm a big fan of Tate. He has experience, power, mobility and attitude. I think he'll be the guy who consistently gets the better of the DL across from him. And our running game will be constant threat because of that.
Agree. Wear the opposing D down with gashing runs then Boom !!! Long bomb !!! Also agree that the Center has the most important role of communicating the play to the rest of the O line. But Ratledge will be the motivator both verbally And by his level of play !! Go Dawgs !!
The key for the O-Line starts with the starters, Ernest, Tate, Jared, Dylan, and Xavier but is contingent on how well the rotation guys step up. The biggest shoes to fill will be Jared, but there is no doubt that he'll led the way and SED's prediction will come to fruition…..as far as the rotation guys stepping up…….would anyone in The Dawg Nation want any of those starter on you arse….forget about Searels and Kirby!
