Let’s say this is indicative of the final rankings. I would argue that Texas would have an easier path to the final than Georgia. It’s quite possible that Texas ends up 5th without playing in the SEC title game. The SEC title loser could be Ole Miss or Bama and placed 8th/9th. Texas would play Boise in Austin and then the 4th seed (Utah). Georgia’s reward for winning the SEC would be a matchup with Ole Miss or Bama.

They should allow the the seeded teams to select their opponents.

I don't think this will be the rankings simply because it would make it SEC on SEC in 3 of the 4 possible rounds. UGA would play the winner of Ole Miss/Bama, then play UT in the finals. Seems like a lot of repeat games from the regular season to me. I think tv ratings will play into the final playoff seeding as much as your actual resume. Your resume will get you in, ratings will determine where you are placed.

But I think our Dawgs would have a “bye” in the first round and a week to rest where the future opponent would have to play a tough game a week before facing UGA. That “bye” is a huge advantage. Go Dawgs!!!

With the 12-team playoff, you want to either be in the SEC Championship game (or any Power-4 Championship game) and win it, or not be in it at all (yet still make the playoffs). The loser ends up playing an extra game with no real benefit and a chance that they are left out of the playoffs all together depending on how the rest of the conference and other conferences' teams ends up.

Heather, sweetheart…..bless your overly optimistic B1G heart……I hate to be the one to break it to you but The Ducks will send the Bucknuts home smelling of wild duce diver ducan poo…..SO TOS will not be #2……I also question Utah, Penn St and Boise????

Didn’t Texas lose both their starting and second string RB’s to season-ending injuries? That’s got to hurt their chances…

Well you can always tell that it’s August when you see Notre Dame ranked in the top 10! I’d love to see them on the schedule.

    GO DAWGS!

With how weak of a schedule ND plays they should have to go undefeated. One of the weakest schedules out there other than the possibility of FSU living up to their hype. Tired of the over respect for a team that really has been nothing for almost 30 years. Rating matter I guess.
