the short passes and behind the LOS passes were not executed well. CB15 has a big arm, let him rip.

I also always had high hopes for Joenel, but if KJ holds it down, he’s a possible transfer target.

If Mykel Williams isn't seriously hurt he and Jalon Walker could be the chaos creators we were missing last year.

I said a week or so ago that Clemson's D-line was not goiing to allow us to just run the ball down their throats, just like BAMA didn't. FOr all the talk about our Oline, they just aren't dominant. I knew Bobo would try to run but that we would have to pass to open up the run game, and that's exactly what happened.

Clemson played tight coverages and made us have to throw deep to beat them. I don't believe we completed any "deep" balls, so thats a work in progress. Carson finally started to roll out of the pocket a few times and was able to allow our receivers a couple extra seconds to get a little further down the field in the 10-15 yard range and then we inserted Frazier and he was able to make the cutback runs that Branson couldn't. Branson would just follow the blockers or try to and he kept getting stuffed at the LOS because the O-line couldn't push Clemson around.

I think we caught a break early in the game when the things that Clemson did offensively were open, like wide open, but they couldn't execute. A dropped pass to a wide open TE and an errant throw to a receiver behind him or at their feet. They execute those early plays and they're off and running.

Slow 1st half's wont cut it against BAMA and Texas, and Ole MIss. CB and CMB have to be better.

I have not analyzed the stats, but my eyeballs told me the Dawgs’ Defense was good to great from whistle to whistle against a quality opponent. The scoreboard says the same. Among other things, the Defense seemed to have addressed some of last year’s issues with defending the running game—time will tell. The game against Bama should reveal more.

On offense? Unfortunately, the slow start woes of last year appear to persist. Also, Beck’s longer throws in the first half appeared to be a bit off—same as last year. However, he seemed to really improve in this area during the second half. Could be the first half offensive misfires were mostly a product of first-game-of-the-season jitters. By the end of the third quarter, it appeared Beck and his receivers were executing really well—improved over last year.

I was really happy to see Arian Smith have a strong performance! 👍🏻😎

    Goooooooo Dawgs!

As in recent years, I think a big shift from slow first half to eventual pulling away in the second half yesterday had to do with Georgia's superior depth/talent that enabled us to wear the other guys down. Big difference between recent years and this year is there are a few teams on our 2024 schedule that might be able to match our talent/depth (and it ain't Clemson). Keep chopping and stay healthy, boys, cuz it's going to be a grind. Go Dawgs!

How wrong you were. Mike. UGA showed out second half. Nate Frazier is a real baller.

Night and day difference between the 1st and 2nd halves. We've all seen Kirby and his staff do this kind of thing before which is one trait of great coaches. You've got to be able to adjust. Glad Bobo got more aggressive with the play calling. Would love to see the TEs involved more, but Bobo may be saving some of that for the tougher contests. Walker was a spark for the defense in the 2nd half, and I liked seeing him in there. Not enough credit goes to Dan Jackson. He is pretty quiet but usually does a good job wherever he goes. And Everette was tested in the secondary and performed well. Beck threw passes to (8) different receivers which is just fantastic. And the kicking game with Peyton - WOW…a 49 and 55 yarder! I knew Frazier would be a great addition to the RB room. Great seeing Cash Jones have a few good runs, and not having Roderick and Etienne on the field just shows you how talented the backfield can be.

I am very anxious to see the injury updates this week on Mykel, Bell (think it was just cramps), Joenel, and Brinson. Need those guys back at least by Bama time.

@tcs59 Believe me, you are NOT ALONE.

The homers and old timers that drink the kool-aid on this mediocre site will down vote you(and me 🤷‍♂️) but there are thousands of seasoned Dawg fans that voice the same opinion.

Most that venture to this section are not used to pushback-like another large group of 🐑 that I shall not name.

Much too conservative in the ENTIRE first half. Make that mistake against an offense in the top 30(which Clemson has not been since 2019), you will be putting your offense in possibly a 2-3 score hole.

Clearly Coach Smart was okay with it until his halftime adjustment speech, but that was ONLY because Clemson’s offense was not threatening much against his defense.

I will 100% give Bobo credit for unleashing and adjusting at halftime, and for not making 80% of the passes at or behind the LOS. Kudos to him for that.

However, with murderers row coming up and three of them in the enemies lions den, going an entire half like can and will spell disaster down the road.

Smart and Bobo need to figure out how for GA not to have such slow starts to games.

If KJ holds it down, Dan Jackson is a possible (probable) target for the bench. Kirby is about getting the best players on the field. I'm pretty sure that both Joenel and KJ are better and more naturally talented than Jackson. Before the season ends, I expect both Bolden and Aguero to be in the starting lineup, along with Starks of course, with Jackson being a top backup.
