Everything Kirby Smart said as Georgia moves on to Tennessee Tech
ATHENS —While Monday may have been a holiday for most, Kirby Smart and the Georgia football team were hard at work preparing for their next game.

" I learned a long time ago you need to develop two skillsets because the game has changed and evolved and be more spread orientated. These guys that played outside linebacker against a two back I set, they weren’t finding homes. They might have a home in the NFL but they didn’t have a home in college. And we make promises we’re going to develop you in multiple ways…We think it’s part of your growth. We say all the time, you’re gonna get 98 percent of your football reps in practice. So why not experiment and grow and then that 2 percent in the game, you get to show off all these things you’ve learned. And then when the next level comes calling, they’ve seen you do multiple things. "
Okay, call me naive, but I have never heard a coach say this kind of thing. How refreshing. Shows you that Kirby's actions about development and building a program are very true. What he said makes perfect sense. If I was a player, I would want to work hard for Kirby. He's looking out for me now and my future. And you can certainly understand why he wants to keep the portal additions to a minimum.
This is the one aspect of recruiting that needs constant emphasis….come to Georgia and you will be developed to an NFL level…..not many D-1 schools can make that boost. Plus, regardless of "stars" this fact will separate the truly gifted player from the HS hotdog posser….or the NIL chasers.
