Kirby Smart had a lot of positive things to say about Jalen Milroe.

Yep, Milroe is better and more refined in his passing game than last season. He is much better with the long ball and back shoulder pass than Beck. He appears to be more confident too this season. He passes on the move better than Beck, and he usually doesn't slide. But he can definitely be flustered under a heavy pass rush - as long as you contain him at the same time. We sacked him (4) times (Brinson, Walker, Walthour) during the SEC Championship game and contained him very well…until the end. We just need to do that again….that is, other than that last run which killed us. We all know that someone will be assigned to shadow him all game.
Schumann will probably try the same tactics against Milroe as last year which includes taking away the long ball and forcing Milroe to throw it short-to-medium. Beck has got to come out slinging it DOWNFIELD - not these dink swing passes and WR screens that just never seem to work very well. Gotta have the OL protect Carson or it could be a rough evening. WRs need to step up their game and make space.
I'm with you, for the life of me i'll never understand when it's 3rd and 8 and the play call is WR screen..behind or at the line of scrimmage. All but 2 or 3 defensive players will be within 5 yards of the LOS making it tough to turn a 2 yard pass into 8 or more yards. And frequently results in a holding penalty on a WR blocking out on the edge. That puts the team in an even tougher situation to gain a first down. It's a definite head scratcher at times..GoDAWGS!
I am with you on that. Seems like on 3rd and medium it is either a screen or everyone is running deep. Nobody intermediate.
Is Kirby channeling Larry Munson?
Go, Dawgs!
