I sincerely hope Kirby does not do this again with Frazier…I always worry about the transfer portal and these more aspiring players like Nate. The kids today do not like to wait to play. This is Georgia's culture…development over time. He has played plenty up to now and was a true spark. …Bama seemed beyond him, according to Kirby. I disagree.

    I worry too much. LOL

WE Love Nate that first game. The wife asked the same thing this weekend. Heck rotate both and keep the D thinking. See, bama plays it freshman ;-)

Agreed. On the pre-game show, Nick Saban specifically mentioned Frazier as being someone who could have a big impact on the game, calling him the best H.S. RB in the country last year. I understand developing kids over time. But, at some point talent has to play. Part of me thinks if Ryan Williams were at UGA he wouldn't be playing as a freshman. Which means kids like Ryan Williams won't come to UGA.

For some reason, I keep thinking of the 2008 blackout game vs Bama. I hope we don't look back on this game in the same way years from now.

Smart plays freshmen all the time. Receivers, runningbacks, quarterbacks, linebackers, DBs, OL...

The freshman I wonder about is Ellis Robinson. I thought he would get a few more snaps by now as UGA'S top recruit. That said, Kirby is willing to play freshmen if they are ready. Swift, Bowers & Pickens all were contributors as freshmen. Last year, CJ played alot. This year KJ has seen plenty of snaps. I think once the first half played out, the running game was on the back burner. I believe Kirby when he said Nate didn't see the field because the situation didn't present itself. Also, with having to turn to a passing assault, the running backs that played probably have more experience in pass protection.I bet Nate will get his share as the season progresses.

For some reason the end of my prior comments do not appear. I was trying to say after the 1st half issues, the backs that played probably have more pass protection experience.

Kirby has to play Robinson at cornerback, Frazier at running back, #29 at defensive end. #32 at defensive end is terrible. He's playing because of experience and not talent. Kirby got to start playing the best player. Look what happens to Mark Richt.

    From Kirby:
“Nate’s doing a great job. he’s improving week to week,” Smart said. “He takes a lot of pride in his performance and is really contentious about it... He’s not doing anything wrong, really the opportunity didn’t present itself with the way the game played out.”

I do not buy this explanation for a second. Cash Jones, who played well, had at least one carry, maybe two. You're telling me in that game, even when it was lopsided, that Nate Frazier couldn't get on the field. He's obviously not the most experienced running back we have, but he's arguably the most talented. Since Saban talked about him, you can bet Alabama was aware of him. He might have made a nice decoy at some point.

As for those calling for Smart to play Ellis Robinson, I'm less sure about him. From the one time I saw him play, he looked a lot like a freshman to me. I think he's talented, but I don't think he's ready. Then again, Julian Humphries looked very unready Saturday night, so . . .

Bobo probably forgot Frazier made the trip.

Just my humble opinions but should have played Both Frazier and Etienne rotating them in and out. For that matter if you Really wanted to confuse Bama at least for one play put Both of Em in the backfield at the same time !! Have to be more innovative in big games like this in my opinion.

I've got to believe Nate has run afoul of some team rule….Kirby will never say so as not to embarrass the player but the message gets across….big game/little game, you don't tow the line you're out…..the stars tell me Nate will have a big day against The War **** Eagle,Tiger, Plainsmen!

Getting down 28-0 in the 2Q dictated that UGA would be in a 85/15 run/pass ratio. RB's have to play perfect in pass protection. Frazier is a freshman RB. He is still learning his protections. CJones is a SR who knows all the protections. That is the biggest reason Frazier didn't play unless there is an undisclosed disciplinary issue.
