Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

GO DAWGS!
BEAT TEXAS!
Not sure a 3* is what we need. We need more 5*s.
Stop worshiping the stars. Lol. Lord Kirby is all ya need. He'll turn a 3-star with "the right stuff" into a 5-star within 2 years.
That's why it's getting harder and harder to keep the Sophomores & Juniors on campus. Playing time and practice reps are purchased by prospective players.....with the effort and improvement they demonstrate on and off the field.
Sometimes that may lead to an upperclassmen feeling looked-over or rejected. I.e., it hurts their feelings and their ego. Which may influence them to check out other options and test their leverage. Germaine Johnson did it, electing to transfer to FSU. Bear Alexander?....USC. Mims poked his foot in the water and smartened-up....so, did Humphrey.
As they develop under Kirby's guidance...they also become more valuable on the NIL Market. Once they've reached their [apparent] ceiling...they can use that leverage to improve their quality of life....and rep count.
IMO...Getting all 5-star athletes would be great...if they were locked into staying put for 3 years, by an enforceable contract.
Otherwise....you'd be spending an awful lot of time re-recruiting your roster every year and ripping your hair out, trying to satisfy 85 Prima Donnas with a valid claim to "more reps".
In today's CFB NIL/TP Market....it's not practical to sign that many 5-stars. All of em won't be good material for Kirby's Program, anyway....and, will eventually transfer.
Wasted resources and coaching effort on players only committed to staying, as long as it suits them.…can destroy a 3 or 4 year Program from within. There is no vehicle for compensating a school for a player transferring to another program....despite the obvious fanancial loss to that school [and, State].
That being said….the head of any CFB Program should be very careful in selecting the type players they introduce into their respective Programs. A 5-star guy, isn't always your best option.
Also, IMO....Kirby has done an outstanding job, in keeping the Bulldog Football Program in balance. He may not always get what he wants out of "Recruiting Season" [Coach Dan Mullin].....but, he darned sure gets what he needs.
Go Dawgs!!!!
