ATHENS — In the past, a single loss might have been enough to keep a team out of the College Football Playoff. Georgia learned that last year, when the Bulldogs went 13-1 and missed the College Football Playoff after their loss to Alabama.

Texas looks like the most complete and consistent team we have played this season. But as you can see below, they certainly aren't perfect.

    Stat comparison:

    Total Offense - TX #7; Dawgs #27

    Passing Offense - Dawgs #9; TX #11

Rushing Offense: TX #40; Dawgs #92

    Total Defense - TX #1; Dawgs - #27

    Rushing Defense - TX #22; Dawgs #44

Red Zone Defense - TX #2; Dawgs #80 (tied with FL)

Passing Yards Allowed - TX #2; Dawgs #39

We're uncharacteristically lagging in just about every important category (other than Passing Offense) that will eventually matter at some point. Sure, stats are for losers, but stats don't lie. There are reasons why we have struggled in most of our games. We're just not the same kind of team - nor do we have the same kind of playmakers - that we have been the last few years. As has been said, we have a lot of very good players but not a lot of great. We also have a somewhat different assistant coaching staff. All this stuff does matter in games like this one.

The pressure is on both teams Saturday. Like has been said before, whatever the outcome, I simply would LOVE to see a complete, tough, and consistent showing from the Dawgs against the Longhorns. 60 minutes of hard fought, good football.

    GO DAWGS!

1 - just a few weeks ago, Finebaum was saying there was a case that even a 3-loss UGA could make the playoffs.

2 - TX’s wins over MICH and OSU weren’t nice. They were just wins against incredibly overrated programs.

3 - “it seems like whichever offense has the better day will come away with the win.” Well… Yes. Unless we’re expecting a lot of points from anyone’s defense, that’s how winning always works.

Play the games. Media predictions have been wrong all season.

As to #1…..Finebaum is an idiot, a Bama apologist, and his opinions differ depending on which way the wind is blowing…..

He says and does to accomplish one thing….stir the pot! He is the Howard Stern of Sports Radio and I could care less about anything he has to say concerning UGA football!!!

Oh, and as to #2 and #3…. I totally agree! UT has played no one with an offense as productive and as explosive as ours…

    We will see this Saturday!

Go Dawgs! Hate on horns! Dawgs by 17!

Who cares what Finebaum says? He’s a Bama homer unless it’s playing his alma mater.

We won two National Championships with outstanding defenses. The old adage that defense wins games still holds true. It doesn't matter if you have a great offense if you can't stop the other team from scoring.
