Texas game shows that Mykel Williams makes the Georgia defense ‘tremendously different’
ATHENS — When adjusting for the opponent, Georgia’s two best defensive performances of the season have come against Clemson and Texas.

so the dawgs D perform well against orange— sorry vol fans- colors don’t lie. And isn’t one of the alternate colors for the gators orange.
It was certainly great to see our defense grow up just in time to get us back in the playoff conversations. It was much needed against a team that has the best defense in the country. I noticed that after 7 games Texas still has the best defense by a long shot. In fact, they average giving up 3.74 yards per play while the next best defense is at 4.04. That’s a HUGE difference and helps me realize why our offense and Beck struggled at times. Hopefully we can keep improving on both sides of the ball. Go Dawgs!!!
Just really shows how integral each element of the defense is. Without a stout D-line, the opponent's run game is easier and requires more of a push from the LB and safety. In addition, the pass rush isn't as effective resulting in too much time for the QB and the receivers to separate. Love the point about how difficult it is to account for Walker and Williams while both are on the field. Now with Wilson coming along, it adds another element. Definitely don't want to forget about Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins - he has been a stout standout while Williams has been out. With this line going well, the D can be outstanding - they sure were against Texas University.
Have to disagree a tad with Riley Connor on Williams "picking up an ankle injury" in the Clemson game. A cheap and illegal chop block by a scared RB resulted in the injury and hopefully there will be another meeting with Clemson to avenge that. Clemson doing their usual walk through the cake ACC until they play someone good.
WWW!
Fully agree with all you’ve said here. Now if we can get Mondon back and Fully healthy. However the guys that stepped up behind Mondon Really stepped up and have done a fine job in his absence !! So no rush for him to get back until he’s totally healthy.
Unless over ruled on Appeal, Agueryo and Jackson will miss the first half vs. UF. Should Dawgs fans be Overly concerned about that ?? Also even though the mud lizards have been down trending for quite some time, in recent games they’ve found some pretty good success.
The majority of the time we get the mud lizard’s best game of the season in Jax. So if I were in a position to speak to our Furry Beasts, I’d tell Em, Eyes on the Prize men, Eyes on the Prize !! Don’t take the mud lizards for granted, go in there All Business, Crush them and leave !!
Hope our Dawgs can get the score up High and Fast and try to get as many young players snaps in the second half as possible as long as we have a very comfortable lead. Go Dawgs !!
Its not just Mykel. The whole DL was and is getting back to being somewhat healthy. Depth and rotations are bound to improve across the board. No one mentions it…but that has been the problem.
We also have to remember those are the two games their QBs don't really run that much.
If the defense had been at full strength for the whole season the Dawgs would be the top rated defense, not Texas.
