I'm just amazed how fragile Beck appears to be. Everyone talks about him with kid gloves as if they are handing something made of crystal and not something harder. As much abuse as SBIV took from Smart (and plenty of fans as well - me at times) you would think there would be some of that stern talk but it is the opposite. Bennett was constantly scolded publicly in no uncertain terms and with Beck it is rainbows and unicorns. The biggest issue is most of these mistakes are with little/no pressure on him. He has plenty of time and yet will throw the ball into double and triple coverage. Even with the passes across the middle, so many of those are behind the receiver making it a much tougher catch to begin with and one that won't produce much yardage because momentum is broken.

I'm not sure it will get better because it was supposed to get better these last 4-games and it actually seems to be getting worse or staying the same. The "plan" is the same as well - I promise not to throw multiple interceptions and change the momentum each time, but for that to be believed, there has to be some evidence of this. I don't believe Smart can sit him because it will likely crush him so it will be what it will be going forward. Puts pressure on the defense and others to not just do their jobs, but to cover and make up for these bonehead plays.

As always, Go DAWGS and let's put Ole Mess in their place Saturday.

If they can block for him, he'll do well. The Freshman backs need to grow up quickly.

I'm of a different thought on Beck. First, and to be clear, I am not happy with the picks. They hurt and come at the most inopportune times and they have to be cleaned up.

That said, this is a kid that stuck with the program. He sat as a backup for years and then, when his shot at starting came, it was taken away in favor of Bennett. I cannot imagine that feeling but I am proud that he stuck it out, particularly in an age of jumping ship for more money. And then he could have left last year and made a lot of money but still he stayed. The kid is a Dawg, through and through and I absolutely believe he loves the University of Georgia.

Honestly, I blame NIL. I hate everything about it. I believe Beck was thrown gobs of cash and it got in his head. It took him out of his game and now it is a struggle to get that back. I love his ability to keep going and bounce back in a game. His second half of games is light years better than his first half. I'd prefer it be the whole game, though.

I hope the kid gets his head right because he is a good kid and he is a really good QB. He needs to have fun again and stop worrying about the promises of tomorrow that have been made. This would not have been the case a few years ago and I fully believe he would be the player we know he can be.

@Henddawg…Agree 100%. And if the strategy now is to throw the ball away if the defense looks different than expected or no one appears to be open then I have to wonder what has this kid been doing for the last 20+ games and what has changed that has now caused so much confusion for him that causes him to throw to clearly covered receivers?

You are right. The slightest pressure and he is off his mark, and with the Rebels leading the SEC in sacks then that doesn't bode well for Carson.

Maybe he gets an epiphany this week and figures it out. We can only hope.

Beck can't cut down on catastrophy. He is one. A real nut case. Any NFL team would be crazy to draft the kid.

The parachute analogy is perfect for Beck’s situation. I know the entire offense could play better, but the picks can’t be put on anyone but Beck, even the tipped INTs because the ball wasn’t thrown where it needed to be. If communication is an issue, that goes back to coaching not getting that message across and Beck not getting the receivers on the same page. Beck is a good QB, but he isn’t the same QB we saw last year, probably because NIL money and cars went to his head. If he throws multiple picks vs ole miss, we’ll get beat. Go Dawgs!

Sports Writer Seth Emerson just published an article about the craziness and competitiveness of the SEC this season with 9 out of 16 teams only (1) game out of first place as it stands today. The article was quite humorous.

His quote about the Dawgs is spot on:

" The Dawgs have a very flawed team, whose quarterback can’t stop throwing the ball to the wrong team, whose defense looks great one week and vulnerable the next, and which failed to cover the spread against four teams with losing SEC records. And yet, this still might be the best team in the conference. So, who knows? "

Part wants to be a bit perturbed with his assessment but hard to argue. A team won’t survive long with the person that handles the ball the most is individual most prone to mental lapses that carry inordinate weighting. That individual will always be the QB in football.

You cannot compare CB15 to SB13…Two totally different Skill Sets and Demeanors. SB13 was a tough SOB that thrived under pressure and CB15 is the epitome of the rest of his generation, i.e, he’s been babied and pampered to believe that when life gets tough, it must be someone else’s fault. Time to put on his Big Boy Boxers and fulfill the position he waited for in Athens…CB15 has the ability-time to put it all together!

    Go Dawgs!🏈🏆🏆

Beck has never once blamed anyone but himself. Even when there was blame to go around.

To what Kirby said about defensive moving into different looks than what was expected, a big difference here is that last year we had Ladd who was extremely good at finding a way to get out of a coverage to get open. We just dont have that skillset this year. Dude is tied at #1 for rookie receiving grades.

If I hear "resiliency" one more time, ffs. Buzzwords drive me nuts, particularly here.

NIL, family, friends, social media, love life/girlfriend, Lambo…..who the hell knows what snakes have taken up residency in CB's head….I've said it before and I'll say it again……if anything, Carson Beck is a competitor….look at his past and what he's endured to become The Dawgs Starting QB……he's in a funk…..sit his happy Lambo arse on the bench and let him watch Gunner Stockton, Ryan Puglisi, Jayden Rashada, Collin Drake, Sam Bush, Colter Ginn use the opportunity that he provided to steal his starting position……COMPETITION IS THE ONLY THING THAT WILL SAVE CB!
