Beat Tech, win the SEC Championship game and get a BYE in the first round of the playoffs.
Sounds like the ideal scenario. But one thing you failed to mention Connor is...what if we LOSE the SEC Championship game??
There Is a bigger risk now of not making the playoffs at all if we lose that game. We've seen how erratic the CFP Committee is when it comes to ranking teams. There is certainly no guarantee a 3- loss GA team makes the playoffs. So, yes, we now control our own destiny into the playoffs as long as we keep winning...something we seem to struggle with sometimes. If we end up playing Texas again they will come better prepared for us.
Nice clip of JCarter collapsing the pocket so that NDean and NSmith can sack, wait for it, Matt Stafford. UGA football should use this clip when recruiting defensive linemen and linebackers.
No end in sight for storming the field. CFB may have to make a deal with fans. If you wait until the field is clear of coaches, players and officials THEN you can run on the field after every game. Fines seem to be having no effect on fans storming the field.
Georgia was in the playoff, now they have to win the SEC championship to get in.
Loser, defensive Line. Manhandled by two star UMass kids. Kirby should look to hire that offensive line coach.
Loser: entire first team defense. Cringe worthy performance against U Mass.
Loser: lane kiffin. He’s like a gnat (all pun intended). He bothers coaches, teams, and fans to no end, thinking he’s really being effective. But in the end, it gets squashed like he did vs fla and the bad loss vs Kentucky. And lost to the coach he was rumored to be replacing. 🤣 Go Dawgs! Wreck tech!
I think UGA defense was just lazy. Figured they would win no matter the effort. Well 21 pts by U Mass later and they half woke up. Will not work against Tech…..!
The SECCG could be this year's natty.
As much as the committee has given short shrift to strength of schedule, even they would have to keep an SECCG-losing Georgia in the tournament — unless it was a total wipeout. One reason is that they're simply running out of teams with the resume to put ahead of three-loss SECCG loser.
A loss in the SECCG (or either Power 2 championship) shouldn't count in the same way that a regular season loss did. That would be ridiculous.
Of course, our D plays with butter on their fingers as they did Saturday, we could very well be wiped out . But that's not going to happen. Unlike against UMass, our front seven will be awake when they take the field in the next two games.
If we're pending our hopes on the tournament comittee to get in (if we lose in the SECG), that's a heartbreak waiting to happen.
@UGADad20
You got voted down for bragging on former UGA players doing well in the NFL or for saying ther's no end insight for fans storming the field. Makes perfect sense to someone. -LOL!
Hey, @MikeGriffith, you left the "Beck-Ratledge Cringeworthy Touchdown Celebrations" off your winners list. After do-si-do last week, they played paddy cake this week. What's next in their arsenal of corniness. Leapfrog, perhaps? A little tango?
I can't wait. And neither can @UGADad20!
"Frazier is second among SEC running backs in yards, just behind LSU’s Caden Durham."
Frazier is #17 in the SEC in rushing yards, with less than half of Tennessee's Dylan Sampson. Did you mean second among freshmen tailbacks perhaps? In any case, UGA's leading rusher barely having 500 yards 11 games into the season shows how far Kirby Smart has come from inheriting Nick Chubb and Sony Michel. Can't even claim a "by committee" approach as the third leading rusher after Frazier and Etienne is Dillon Bell with 106 yards. UGA has 1430 rushing yards total this year, or merely 130 yards more than Sampson has by himself.
Carson Beck's passing has accounted for 2/3rds of UGA's offense this season. Jake Fromm's passing accounted for 2/5ths of UGA's offense in 2017. And Fromm's receivers - Mecole Hardman, Javon Wims, Riley Ridley, Terry Godwin, Isaac Nauta, Charlie Woerner - were better. They were all drafted - Hardman and Ridley in the 2nd and 4th rounds - with Woerner and Hardman still in the NFL to this day, where only Arian Smith has a shot from this group. Rather than calling for Beck to be benched, instead if UGA wins the SECCG and makes the playoff, Beck should be a Heisman candidate and a strong candidate for being a 1st round pick.
