Final grades from ‘epic’ Georgia football win over Georgia Tech
ATHENS — It was far from Georgia’s best effort of the season, but eight overtimes later the Bulldogs found a way to get a win in Clean, Old-Fashinoed Hate.

Our defensive line play the last 2 games has been atrocious. The O-line hasn't been that much better. We gave up 563 yards of offense against Tech. Good grief. UMass got a ton too.
If we don't clean up the LOS we are going to be embarrassed in Atlanta. Texas is going to be ready for payback for their only loss of the season, and their line play is much improved.
Get it together Dawgs!!
can we all agree that this was Arian Smiths last game? Or just put him in to do some cardio as a diversion!
Defensive line—F- They were horrendous and The Techies dominated them all night. Haynes King had ALL DAY to find receivers-our perimeter was like an open invitation. I wish this bunch would give a crap the whole game instead of just the last half of the fourth quarter!!
and Truss is gonna get somebody killed if he continues to half-ass it. It's been that way for a while now.
Really surprised not to see coaching grades because that 2 point decision early was awful. Your name isn’t Kiffin. Don’t give me analytics nonsense.
And the fact is, football is 4 quarters. When you say tech was “absolutely” the better team for much of the game… so what? Kudos on your feel-good story. It’s like baseball. A 9th inning home run counts just as much as a 1st inning home run and the 9th is a part of the whole game.
That said, I do agree with the grades. We need a complete, four quarter game.
Again ADD COACHING as a grade! Decent play calling, not Bobo's fault (at least play calling wise).
What's maddening is that it's the SAME three problems that continue to haunt us:
I'm sorry, but I would like see Smart "clean house" with everyone involved in the fundamentals. They should be able to find a job easily with Georgia on their resume. We have a failure to develop the talent properly.
Imagine where we would be if we WEREN'T the worst catching team in the NCAA? Even being "average" could've really changed things for us.
Saban would not have put up with this. He would've quietly told his people to find another job and had the next one ready to go before Early Signing Day.
Interesting grades based on the grades you gave for the ole miss loss. No consistency on your grading this season Conor.
They were not the better team. They were better prepared and more motivated, but to say a middling acc team is better than a 10-2 sec team playing for the sec title next week is not good journalism.
I hope Schumman takes tte nc job. Other than the Texas game and the last 3 quarters vs tenn, his game plan has been awful. We really missed Muschamp this season. Kirby needs to make some difficult decisions on his coaching staff and with his players, both current and future players. Go Dawgs! Beat the cows!
Very poor performance all around, poor tackling, poor blocking, poor catching, but the biggest problem I saw, was the effort. If UGA gives the effort that Tech and King (both Kings), with Haynes being crippled, they can beat UT. If they half azz it again, they will probably be playing in the snow, or not.
I've never understood this concept that the team that lost outplayed the team that won, or was "the better team." If there was some fluke at the end, or the refs robbed the team that should've won, ok sure. But 9+ times out of 10, the team that plays better wins the games. By definition; that's the whole point of a competition in which the score is kept.
Georgia won this game because they played better than their opponent. Only slightly better, which was maddening to watch, but better nonetheless.
I'll give Beck an A. He often has to fight through his own offense. Defense…F- ( is there such a thing?) Bobo did pretty well…B. Schumann…F to F-. Maybe it is time to move on? Muschamp needs to come back on board. Kirby must see this glaring defensive problem? GLARING! They get pushed around far too much. Even in the OT.
What has happened to our vaunted defense? Our line gets killed. Our backers are a step out of position or they're not playing their assignment and our corner backs and safeties are nowhere the receivers are and then, they have forgotten how to tackle except for Dan Jackson. We've got to recover what we had against Clemson and Texas.
Our linemen need to add weight. They look to fit. Kick a soccer ball and then kick a bowling ball. Which one gets moved the most? Very few players are tackling. Are they afraid of getting hurt, being coached poorly (helmet across the chest, not the back), casts on their arms so they can't wrap-up…? Why can't our receivers catch? It must be a God given inability. Dawgs need to get creative. Play to win! You don't have to be perfect. Style points don't count. If a d-back is in zone coverage and the qb is trying to extend a play, don't just stand there waiting, locate the nearest uncovered receiver and start running.
Coaching needs an "F" for going for the 2 point conversion after the first TD. Even if you get (2) TDS and make both extra points, you are still down. Going for 2 at that point was dumb.
