Georgia underdog vs. Texas in SEC Championship Game; other conference title game odds
ATHENS — Georgia will be back in an underdog role when it takes the field in the SEC Championship Game against Texas.
Comments
I’d rather Georgia be the underdog.
Carson Beck had 3 interceptions in the win at Texas, ZERO touchdowns.
You know who had 3 TD’s in that game?
Eteinne!!
I love Frazier, but if Eteinne is a scratch for the game in ATL, it is hard for me to see how our Dawgs will win this one outside of just blind loyalty and being a homer fan(which I am guilty of at times 😉).
The Dawgs defense is not going to pull off that miracle performance a second time against Ewers and Texas. They will be ready for it and practice against it ALL WEEK.
Texas has looked really strong the last few weeks, no major injuries, and they do not get off to historically awful slow starts the way our Dawgs have for pretty much 80% of this seasons games.
If Travis is ready to roll and practices all week and gets reps, then our Dawgs have a shot.
Otherwise, it s 100% on Beck with a group of receivers who lead 130+ teams in drops this year,
So Texas will simply load up on the pass rush(which is as good as Ole Miss), play zone, and run the football right down our front seven’s throat-only passing off of play action.
And that will be that, unfortunately.
🤷♂️
@Gibroni88…all your points are valid. I had forgotten about Etienne's TDs!
You are probably right about Etienne. My bet is he will play in a limited amount, because they will want to save him for the playoffs. If we can get both Robinson's in there for some decent amount of snaps as well then I will feel better. But, it can't be all on Frazier's shoulders. No way. If Beck can refrain for interceptions and guys can catch the ball then our offense might be semi-effective. That will depend on the O-line. Someone noted that Tate Rattledge did not play in the last Texas game due to injury, so hopefully him being back will help.
And yes, you bet Texas will be much better prepared for us this time.
You seem to be forgetting....."when" that 1st Texas game was played and Kirby's determination to enforce the running game while molding a relatively young defense....along with an inexperienced & beat up offensive line.
IMO....Those days are over. Some minor Injuries aside...the Dawgs are ready to go nuclear, with the passing game, they've managed to keep under wraps most of the season.
Also...IMHO....What you've seen from the Dawgs, to-date....is not what you're gonna get during the second and most important part of the season. The Championship Season.
Kirby played this one [season strategy] to perfection, imo. To be practically guaranteed a CFP seat....AND....go into your Conference Championship game against a team you've already destroyed once....AS an Underdog?! That's fantastic.
Nope. The Dawgs will destroy Texas and anyone else that gets in the way, between now and February. And, they'll do it convincingly.
Since Kirby doesn't intend to lose the SECCG, this year....GT was an afterthought, this past Saturday. So....I wouldn't go by that game, as to "the UGA Team" that will show up next Saturday. That's just the way I see it, anyway.
Go Dawgs....do your thang! Bring it home.
I believe,, one thing is an absolute certainty.....UGA would be wading through rat poison, waist deep, right now.…if not for toning down the offense to allow the defense to grow.
Not to mention, working on communications, crosstraining and timing with various personnel groupings, throughout the season. Now....they're ready for the Post Season. Which begins next week, as far as the Dawgs are concerned.
This is what they work all year for....so, don't sell em short. If the Dawgs don't beat Texas by at least two TD's Saturday....I won't say another word about the Dawgs, this year. Cause, if they "Don't"....then, they aren't what I thought they were. I'll just sit back and enjoy it while it lasts. Lol
But...they ARE what I think they are.
Dawgs....41
Texas..….19
Good !! The Dawgs are more dangerous when their considered the under dog. They were the under dog last time vs TX as everyone but Dawgs fans thought they’d lose on the road at TX.
I honestly believe the Dawgs have a very legitimate shot at beating TX. I make that opinion based on the way TX played TAMU. The Horns won but they didn’t look dominate at all.
Some will say well the Dawgs struggled mightily vs GT. While that’s very true, if Either TX or TAMU played GT the way the Jackets were playing this last Sat. I believe GT would win !! I have to give the Jackets credit they wanted that game in the worse way and gave their everything. Going forward under Key they’re gonna be a dangerous team. I look for the vs TX to be yet another hair pulling, finger biting, cardiac testing ordeal for us Dawgs fans but Dawgs get the W in a tight score !! Go Dawgs !!
Hopefully Etienne can play at least a few snaps at critical points. Hopefully Both Robinsons are able to play. Frazier has done an Excellent job. Cash Jones is Money. Might see more of the Phillips kid, man he’s blazing fast !!
And haven’t heard anything since his foot injury but perhaps Bowens can get in. Last but not least might Have to let Dillon Bell take some snaps at RB though I realize he’s more important at WR and has been dealing with an ankle injury. Beck can make some designed runs. It’s All Hands On Deck !! Dawgs beat TX in Their house, they can do it again in Atlanta !! Go Dawgs !!
