I think Texas will drop to #5 tomorrow and we won’t see them until the championship game assuming we are #2. Why would Texas drop past Notre Dame or Penn State? Go Dawgs!!!

I get that is is all about rankings but having to beat a team three times in a year is really, really difficult. I have faith we can but it just strikes as not right.

    @navydawg

By my estimation there are 4 teams with the talent to beat UGA: Oregon, Ohio State, Alabama and Texas. Having to play 1 of those four back-to-back would absolutely stink. Please schedulers give UGA one of the SEVEN: Penn State, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Arizona State, Boise, Indiana and Clemson. After what UGA went through so far - 5 games against 3 playoff teams (Texas, Alabama, Tennessee, Clemson) PLUS a game against #15 Ole Miss teams - they deserve a break.

Also, I have to be honest: I didn't think that UGA had a chance against Oregon. But after seeing Penn State put up 24 points in the first half - really the difference in the game right now is a PSU QB - I don't think that Oregon has a championship defense. Arian Smith, Dillon Bell and Dominic Lovett have difficulty getting open and making plays after the catch against SEC defenses. (This now includes Texas, who generally has NFL players in their secondary.) Against Oregon they might perform a lot better.

If the committee is true to their word about not dropping due to a championship loss, TX would more likely be ranked 5, switching places with us. That’s maybe a big IF, though…

wow what a game. just hope the CP Committee doesn't screw over like we ALL know they will.

Good comments. I agree with you. But you know what I find to be a total shame ?? Alabama. They are 9-3 and had a Horrendous loss to lowly unranked OU. Bama if justice was served shouldn’t even be in the conversation but Here They Are Again !! For me I say let our Dawgs play Notre Dame. With a Bye week to rest and recover I have Faith our Dawgs would decimate Notre Dame. Big P.S. here, I sure hope that some of these receivers we haven’t seen this year in addition to those we just signed can Get Open and Catch the freaking ball !! I whole heartedly agree with you on that to !!

I'm to happy to rant on Bobo tonight but that dude has got to go. Send him and Willians packing.

Notre Dame should be Barred from the Playoffs until they join a conference and Have to play in a Conference Championship OR be rated lower by not making the Conference Championship. Also for This year I question whether Bama at 9-3 in particular with their Horrendous Loss to Unranked OU should even be in the conversation. Saban is no longer at Bama, so the Committee needs to have some courage.

I agree. I’ve never understood why ND gets special treatment and privileges that no other independent college does. They deserve to sit at the kids’ table, not the adults’ table.
Go Dawgs! Horns down! We run this state and this conference!

I hate to go against SEC, but SMU earned the 12th spot tonight IMO.

Notre Dame has been over-ranked from the start., but that's baked in at this point. So I think the bracket ought to look like this

    1. Oregon
    2. Georgia
    3. Boise State
    4. Arizona State

Then … 5 Texas to play 12 SMU (winner plays Arizona State)

… 6 Notre Dame vs 11 Clemson (winner v. Boise State)

… 7 Penn State vs 10 Indiana (winner v. Georgia)

… 8 Ohio State vs 9 Tennessee (winner v. Oregon)

Under that scenario, we'd play PSU/Ind. winner and then ND/Clemson/BSU winner … which doesn't seem like such a bad draw.

You could argue that the Buckeyes should be ahead of PSU. But that would be punishing the championship loser (plus it would result in OSU & Ind. playing each other again in the first round). I'd probably rather play PSU than OSU in the semifinal.

  • I think the four Conference champions getting first round byes in the playoffs should be (1) Oregon, (2) Georgia, (3) Arizona State, and (4) Boise State.

I think the four playoff teams getting first round home games should be (5) Texas, (6) Penn State, (7) Notre Dame, and (8) Ohio State. Texas and Penn State were ranked 2 and 3 before their Championship games, and both lost close games. Notre Dame was ranked 4 and Ohio State 6 before the Championship games. I don't think either of those teams should be rewarded for getting an extra week of rest and not playing in a Championship game (Notre Dame really needs to get into a conference). I know Ohio State beat Penn State head to head but Penn State still has 11 wins to Ohio State's 10, and Ohio State lost against 7-5 Michigan at home.

Doing the seeding this way would put the top two teams from the SEC and Big 10 in different halves of the bracket so they couldn't play each other again unless they both made it to the Championship game. Texas would be in the top half of the bracket with Oregon and Penn State would be in the bottom half of the bracket with Georgia.

I would seed the road teams for first round games as (9) Tennessee, (10) Indiana, (11) Clemson, and (12) SMU. First round matchups would be:

    (12) SMU at (5) Texas

    (11) Clemson at (6) Penn State

    (10) Indiana at (7) Notre Dame

    (9) Tennessee at (8) Ohio State

If that did happen...and Texas won a close one, in match-up number three. It would have to seem kind of like, a hollow victory to 'em.

Especially, if Texas went on to win the Natty....with 2 losses to the the Dawgs, hanging around their neck. UGA could claim a share of that Title.…cause, right now.…they own Texas. Lol

The Dogs are due high praise for gutting out the Championship. It was one for the ages.

That said, we miss Fran Brown and need to encourage Stacy Searels to retire. Woeful—cringeworthy—under performing offensive lines during his tenure.
