You're more than welcome, Carson. And I thank you for your commitment and hard work so exemplary of the Georgia culture. We're proud to call you DGD, and wish you huge success at the next level where we can continue calling you one of our own. Go Dawgs!
This rules out a grade 3 injury or a full Tommy John surgery. Whether it was grade 1 or grade 2 we will never know, though even if it was grade 1, surgery was going to be the best option to get him throwing before the draft. "Throwing by spring" … spring starts in late March. That will be too late for the late February/early March combine and the UGA pro day, which is held in mid March. Although teams will often hold a second pro day for athletes who can't make the main one.
My guess is early April. That will give him just enough time to schedule last minute workouts with teams that have real interest for the April 25 draft. That would stop him from sliding to the 5th round like Jordan Travis of the Jets last year, who was still unable to work out before the draft. But any chance of him going higher than the 3rd round will be low because teams are going to have their draft boards mostly done before he will be able to work out. I am still holding out hope that he will be able to reunite with Brock Bowers in Oakland, but the Raiders are going to be more likely to get their QB of the future in the 1st round than the 3rd. Everyone saw how Tennessee's waiting until the 2nd to grab the best QB available, which turned out to be Will Levis, was a debacle and that was a better QB draft than this one.
Best of luck in your NFL career Carson. Thank you for all that you did to help our DAWGS win on a consistent basis, during your time as the QB at UGA..GoDAWGS!
Absolutely the right call for this young man…nothing left to prove by staying…you'll always be a DGD. Glad you will be able to continue on with your chosen career and can now set new goals for yourself….Go Dawgs!
DGD,,,one of the best!
Thank You for all your work and effort! We wish you the best of luck in the NFL.
Interesting decision, but not terribly surprising.
Like all of Dawg Nation, I wish Carson the very best in his future, both in the football world and in his life.
Go, Dawgs!
Thanks Carson for being a Dawg. Keep repping the G in the NFL. With the amount of tape on your play and the quality of your recent surgeon's ability and track record, you will be drafted sooner than later. Sometimes the 1st few QB's picked end up in desperate situations with little time to grow and fulfill their potential. I know you have the patience to learn your new trade and become an outstanding NFL QB.
Best of luck to you Carson! DGD!
DGD
He had the full surgery last week at Kerlan-Jobe out here in LA.
Forever a DGD, Carson thanks for the memories, I expect to see you go in the first round and possibly leading one lucky NFL team in the fall. With your record of accomplishments, demonstrated skill set and Dr, El Attrache's reputation, I'd pick you before Shedeur!
God Bless You, Carson. We have all enjoyed watching you play through the years at UGA. You will always be a DGD. Looking forward to watching you in the NFL where I'm sure you'll make someone an excellent QB. Thanks for all the victories and all the memories!!! GO DAWGS
Very well said. Totally agree with all you said here. May God bless Carson on and off the field. Wish him the very best that life has to offer. Carson will always be a DGD. Now go tear up the NFL Carson, we Know you can do it !!
My guess is, he'll never play QB again....or, anything else, that requires that tendon to sling the ball. He will more than likely, lose velocity.. And, mobility isn't in his toolbox, either. So, the odds are against him getting drafted...much less make a squadthis year ....IMO.
However....he IS a Bulldog. And they're just made of different stuff. I wouldn't bet against Carson Beck.....anymore than I would, Stetson Bennett or Gunner Stockton.
Good luck Carson...whether you return to football or not. You'll always be a Hairy Junkyard Dawg....Grrrrr!
